Anyone down for a book trade? 2

So, i was thinking about how the books i've read have influenced my worldview, and about how other people probably read different books that have affected them. Then i got to thinking about how people might understand each other better if they read each other's books. Then i got to thinking about how expensive books are and i figured, what about a swap? it could even be a regular thing. I was thinking that if enough people wanted to do it, we could get a rotation going. anyways, we can figure out how to organize it when/if anyone shows interest.

I have a copy of The Water Margin that i'll never read if you're interested.
i wouldn't be down for a regular trading though. i just dont really like this one and it was expensive by my standards. so id rather trade it than let it sit around
its the 2010 tuttle paperback edition. basically brand new

i was thinking more of a lending program than an actual trade. like, if people wanted to, we could draw lots and pair off then each lend a book that was important to us. I would be willing to pay shipping for my book and my partner as well.(fuck it, media mail shipping is cheap) i think it would be a cool social experiment. we could all disseminate our knowledge to each other and shit. its so easy to surround ourselves with the same reaffirming stuff all the time, this would be a cool way to force us all out of our comfort zones(literature-wise)

books, the least expensive non-consumable item in existence.
how is it so expensive again?
i left one of my books with someone to read, and it's been nagging me ever since to get it back from them, but i don't really want to visit them again, so i'm screwed on all accounts...so damn it, nah, i can't do away with mah read's.

I'll second that. The few books I have loaned out I never got returned. One dude actually loaned one of my books out to someone else.

The Pillars of the Earth Great TV show, not as extensive as the book but fun to watch. Good historic writer. I like how his writing ranged from the 1800's - 1940's and it's all one big story. The sex scenes from female POV are a bit dry. Nontheless if you're a history fanatic you'll love the theme. They can be read apart from each other or you can read it in one row... depending on which age you find most interesting.
Currently I have Fall of Giants (2010), it's the first book in a trilogy starting shortly before world war 1 -- then goes to world war 2 -- the cold war.
I found it a good read because i've always been interested in the grand scheme of things in how these world wars were started. From diplomats to politicians, from farmers to soldiers. The collapse of the Russian dynasty and Germany/Prussia/Austria's feuds tending towards a bloody war which later led to economic collapse and the rise of Hitler. Pretty astonishing how Prussia was an economic powerhouse, how Austria got bullied ... and so on and on.
I believe the cover art is Dutch but it's written in English.
If I can send it by mail without paying too much... Sure i'll do trades ^-^

Yup. The books I love I don't want to lend out, especially to someone in a different country. I'd love them to be read but I never get them back.

"Strategy of the Indirect Approach, Second Revised Edition" by Sir B.H. Liddel Hart
"Utopia" by Sir Thomas More
"William Shakespeare's Star Wars verily, a new hope" by Ian Doescher
"U.S. Army Guerrilla Warfare Handbook" Dept. of the Army
"The Dark Elf Trilogy, collector's edition" by R.A. Salvatore
"The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger" by Stephen King with color illustrations by Michael Whelan
"The Art of War" by Sun Tzu
"Voices from the Civil War" by Milton Meltzer
"Ender's Game" and "Speaker for the Dead" by Orson Scott Card
I've got loads more, but i think that is a good start
