Out of all the ones you found recently, which ones are your favorite/s?
For those of us who find the simple joy of mushrooms and taking pictures.
Here is a place for us to have fun and enjoy each other's daily finds.

Its too dry here to find much of anything. Gotta be a part of this thread though.
Here is a Panaeolus species I found on my lawn about a month ago. Black spored. Got it germed on agar, going to try and grow it out. Putting it to grain real soon here, second transfer. Probably cinctulus, I would guess.

Oh my, those subs look so juicy, I think I could drink them if I tried. These are some perdy pictures in this here thread.
Ran-D, did you eat any of that gym? If so, how was it?
Here's an Amanita sp. I found last Sunday:
EDIT: Holy cow, is there any way to resize these "thumbnails?" If not, right click the picture and select "view image" to see the image in its entirety.

And some unidentified mushrooms, doing what they can to restore the recently burned areas in Black Forest:

My Italian tour is already arranged for next spring & I'm going to do the whole goddamn trip wearing a bright red field marshal's uniform & accompanied by six speed-freak bodyguards bristling with Mace bombs & when I start talking about American writers & the name Tom Wolfe comes up, by god, you're going to wish you were born a fucking iguana!" - Hunter S. @olive: Stunning camera work olive wow!
@d0urd3n: Cool find! they remind me of P. olivaceus from the side view... maybe?
@Ran-D : I was kinda hoping hunters from far off exotic places in Asia, South America or so, would chime in on this thread...that'd be cool to see!
@EnergyTurtle: Lots of rain there in Colorado right now you must be having a great time!

Yeah it reminded me of that as well sara. Just doesn't look like one of my typical cinctulus I find. Granted, I normally find them on dung.
Figured it would be worth messing around with in any case.

I just noticed your "married" foeniseciis, saralove. I found a very similar specimen today, so adorable and surprising. I've never seen foes do that before today.

Went up to the high Sierras and found this cool bearded milky cap, Lactarius repraesentaneus

As far as I can tell it is a pretty rare find for California.
Also found some chickens

I'm back with my freakishly gigantic, thread-breaking pictures. Just right click the pic and select "View Image" to see the full image.
Those fucking luminescent gifs are awesome Alan. Wish I could see those in person.
Here are two P. cinctulus specimens that I collected today, looked like they had gotten into a fight. The tall one with the blue foot was dropping black spores on top of the fat one.

I took the following a few days ago, but I really like it, I'm using it as my wallpaper now. :P

I have only seen them under non-native birch trees in CA. Your find is rare and cool indeed.

Your pics don't break the thread for me because I have set the "Limit width of images in posts" properly. It's in your display settings - if you set it to a bit less than the width of your browser window, the pics will appear the correct size no matter how large they really are.
You can see them in person - I am sending out a couple spore prints to trusted cultivators, and if they succeed in fruiting prints will be available. Alternatively, the locations I found them are listed in mushromobserver. You can click on the location, get a map, then go there at night and see the mushrooms glow in person. Some parts of the woods are amazingly beautiful - the glowing leaves make it look like the ocean floor, and the glowing caps look like brightly glowing pearls.

Yes, the taste is quite similar to Auricularia species.
They are raw edible mushrooms and because of their beauty, high end chefs in Europe use them as an edible decoration.

Very cool. You should clone that and try to grow it out if you cultivate.
Not sure if they grow in my area, but I am going to keep on the lookout this fall in any case.

I've been trying to get a viable clone. They are so small that it is nearly impossible to get a sample from the interior of the fruit. So far all of my attempts have been contaminated with bacteria. I need to get some antibiotic agar.

Is that growing up a pinetree? Cool find.
Found on a eucalyptus in good old Tasmania actually, but still a pretty good find for my first hunting season I think

The smallest Ganoderma I have ever seen.
G.tsugae, on a fallen hemlock in a small ravine in upstate New York. This mushroom was fully mature.

Chicken of the woods, more specifically Laetiporus Cincinnatus (white pored), and some smooth chanterelles (Cantharellus Lateritius). The chicken blew me away, its my new favorite, surpassing H.erinaceus, although ive never had a wild lions mane so its not a fair comparison.
Some Ganoderma Tsugae. Credit Virginia Gentleman for these, beautiful find!!

I wasn't a fan of lions mane, mine was wild. I may not have cooked it right, but it just was bland to me.
I have similar finds... chicken and tsugae as well

Geez Alan your pics! polyporus wow. I really need to get a macro lens.
And the girl! Soo cute! I can see why you're always in Meheeco lol
Here are mine for today:
Phlebia tremellosa (I think?)
My bf and I were river hiking in Klamath and found this underneath some fallen trees that we were jumping off of to swim in the river.
We camped underneath it for the night! These were just so beautiful up close they looked like scones with powdered sugar!

Hey continuing to dig through my camera I realized I found a Polypore too, my guess?
Polyporus badius
Here is the shot the night before. Had to use a flashlight eeeek.

Then I took a few more the next morning.

Sorry that's the best my cam can do!

Nice shot....looking pretty wet there :p
Do you ever use this kind of stuff? http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/washington/weather-radar-24hr
It shows you how much rain your area has gotten in the last 24 hours, very helpful IMO. You have to zoom in though.

The first is a Gymnopus and the second is a Deconica if the spores are dark purple brown.

There is another site that shows you how much you have gotten in the past week / month, that is more useful than the past 24 hours since mushrooms take a few days to grow. I think weather.com can do it.
