I'd be careful with running a heater all the time because of fire risks.
Do you not have a light on them already? You should get a 6500k or the bluest light you can find and have them on a 12/12 cycle.
You could also cut the misting and fanning back to about 3-4x/day now that you have FAE.

Yeh thats my problem...it is freezing ass cold here at the minute! It may be australia but its going down to 46f at night and yesterday was 64f at the hottest part of the day!
I have the SGFC raised 1.5" above a box of heated water with the lid on, it seems to be keeping a steady 64f in the FC now.
I dont have any lights on it, ive been using daylight (room with stain glass windows), doing 12/12 like that. Should I just go and get a lamp for it?

The outlet thermostat switch, like the one I have, http://www.amazon.com/Lux-Heating-Cooling-Programmable-Thermostat/dp/B000E7NYY8 Is only on wgen ur temp goes down below the target temp that u set, abd shuts off when it goes 1 or 2 degrees above. It's a beautiful thing

Don't worry about the heat or the light (as Long as it is in a brightly sunlit room) cubes aren't picky about fruiting Temps at all. I saw Roger say he thought ones grown in a colder room were stronger.

Also, from things I've read about cooler temps, the fruits will be more dense, to a degree of course, and vise versa. Warmer temps, 80s or so sometimes tends to create hollow stems and the like. How that would translate to effect on psilocybin, is beyond me. But I feel like I'm dragging this thread out way too far...peace

It effects psilocybin content because there's more weight. There's no % increase in let's say psilocybin/gram or potency. There's more weight/mushroom if the stems are filled, which is why there will be more actives, simply because there's more weight for them to occupy.
All I did is go to Walmart and get a 6500k bulb, screw it in a lamp, take the shade off and I sat it next to my SGFC. Light isn't too important though, I believe it's just more of a directional thing to tell the mushrooms where to grow. The majority of days I was only giving them between 30 minutes to a couple hours of light.

I wasnt trying to say that as a fact, just my assumption. Let's say you have a 1 oz. sponge and it can hold a cup of water. If you have a 2 oz sponge then it should be able to hold 2 cups of water.
The more volume or weight there is in a given mushroom, the more psilocybin content will also be in it. If it were more dense on the inside but still had the same amount of psilocybin then that would be like a 5g mushroom and a 1g mushroom having the same active content inside.

Pretty shit photography I have to say but you get the idea.
I now have them elevated, covered in holes, more wet perlite and just bought a small heater for the room at night so they dont freeze
They have dried a bit since putting holes in the box but I will keep them misted and give them lots of love so hopefully ill be posting up some success pictures soon.
With misting some say just wet the perlite and other mist the entire FC getting some on the cakes. Does it matter much with this set up?

I mist the cakes bc I've heard evaporation can be a pinning trigger. Also the perlite sometimes just to keep the humidity up. What is the darker layer above your perlite? Is that just a more soaked layer of perlite you put in?

Yeh i was confused about that too...same brand, same shop but different colour perlite!
Having the extra perlite helps so much to keep it moist in there.
Because of all the help I now have 8 babys growing and 2 clusters just started...thank you all!!

Update:
So Ive built a warm room for night time (68f constantly) and also bought a bulb, i couldnt find 6700k bulb anywhere here, the best i could do is 4700k (equivilant to 100W incandescent.)
In the pics you can see that most of them are growing 2/3 at a time but one cake is pinning nicely all around, this cake was dunked unlike the others. Should I take the ones that are growing singles and dunk them now to hydrate or should I stop messing around and leave it?
