Pereskiopsis leaf propogation?

I was picking out peres leaves out of a pot where I had thrown them when doing a graft a bit back. I was suprised to find that one of the leaves had sprouted a little root.... Will it actually sprout a plant this way like some plants do? No doubt, this probably isn't the best or fastest way to propogate these plants, I'm just curious if is was possible...?

I don't know how well you can see in the pic, but it is definitely a root nub forming there... I put it in some dirt to see what happens...

yea it'll take a lil time but so far I've grown 3 "Full Grown" plants from single leaves.
I've grown many more plants from pups I've removed from plants that have a nice scion attached.

I guess it shouldn't have surprised me to find a root on a leaf after seeing how vigorous these things grow...

Seriously. I have left "dead" plants alone until a year went by and sure enough when the right season hit back they came. Amazing things

Thanks, I suppose.
It was unintentional, I was just picking leaves off to do a graft and just threw them down at the base of the stock to wither away... They've got some fight in them though

Keep this thread updated with progress. I've read that they often will not grow a main stem when propagated from a leaf cutting. So I'd like to see you disprove that theory, since its only anecdotal to me at this point.

I've rooted many leaves but they never shot out a new shoot. For this to happen their needs to be a growing point, aka. areole.
It was discussed here some time ago. GoOnThen posted about it I think....

I guess I somehow had an areole attached to my leaves that rooted and formed plants.
I noticed that all of the didn't grow a stalk but they nearly all root.
When I pull offshoots from the stalk when a scion is successfully attached I plant them now and over a lil time they seem to make new plants with some pretty decent growth. If you want more plants cRm give that a shot I assure you that you cannot fail with this method but when they get big you'll have to replant them deeper in the soil to anchor them better.

I'll certainly post it if it somehow throws up a stalk.
But yeah, spacey. Anything (except for leaves by themselves) that I cut/pull off my peres gets immediately planted back to start a new plant. I started with 4 (maybe 5, I don't remember) back a few months ago and now have probably 20-25. They grow like weeds, I am just waiting for more to get thickened up a bit to graft.
