Genetics is the WROST. Got a D the first time around, retook it and only got a C the second time

Yeah I'm kinda dreading it, I don't know much about what I'm up against but I seem to remember being pretty weirded out by gen bio's cursory glance at it. Some weird fucking units. Kilomendels or whatever. I'm going to give it an early start once I get my textbook.

Quant lab seems like it will be pretty straightforward though, and biochemistry looks fun.

Anyway, that's my 11-unit schedule. Do you think I should trim one of the hard science classes for this semester to do some GE and relax a bit?

Biochem is cool. Lots of memorization though, pretty straightforward. Genetics is hard because its definitely a different kind of thinking when it comes to problem solving. You'd think it would be easy because all youre doing is simple arithmetic with  fractions. In reality, the difficult part is knowing what and why you're multiplying these specific numbers

Yeah, it was really confusing from what I saw. I'm going to take special care not to blow it. Biochemistry is pretty similar to ochem though right? That's my shit, I'm pretty good at learning chemical nomenclatures and reaction rules and stuff. That's fun to me. And quant lab is just the laundry list of titrations, yeah?

Was that it? I honestly can't remember what the units were but I absolutely did not fucking understand what they were supposed to represent in the first place.

I never took quant lab.. are you a biochem major? and I thought o firm was way harder than biochem for what its worth. Its just like glycolysis, ETC, Krebs cycle, etc in a way more detail.

Yeh, biochem major. Quant lab is an elective for me, I guess. It seems like a useful sort of skill/knowledge base to have, though, and I like puttering around in the lab. Maybe I could get a job at one of those weed testing labs. That would be awesome.

Yeah im really good in the lab too.

Especially organic; although,im in physics 2 lab right now and it absolutely blows. Magnets and lenses and building circuits. My school kinda has shitty equipment though so that's probably the source of most of my frustration

I did this 5-6 years ago and iirc the less likely it is for a couple of genes to undergo recombination the less distance between them in centimorgans. IDK shit sucked tbh.

Ah yeah, I was never a fan of physics lab, chemistry is way more fun. I did physics 2 a year ago. It was weird because the professor was right out of grad school and he had no plan what so ever for the labs and we literally had to improvise experiments from a ramshackle assortment of incomplete physics toys that demonstrated whatever we were studying at the time. It wasn't so bad when we were just dinking around with magnets but then when we got to the circuit board stuff the lack of direction got really hard to work with.

A morgan is what, some arbitrary distance in terms of codons? Like 6.22 x 1011 codons distance or some such nonsense? Urrrgh.

Yeah, I'm really not looking forward to this, it looks really weird and annoying, but I figure I might as well bite the bullet and get it over with sooner than later.
