Should television ratings also work as an additional way to elect people?

How we elect people should advance!

1. If we want to, we the people should be able to vote.

AND/OR

2. If we want to, we the people should be able to simply tune in to a channel of who we want elected as, say, president, and aid said person by giving them television ratings which would be factored into the election process.

This is 2015. Television ratings should play a role in elections.

Question: Should television ratings also work to aid in getting people elected in elections? If not, why not?

Ideally, no. But most of us are so damn stupid, so maybe.

To an extent they do already when people watch the presidential debates. Many people say that's why Nixon lost against Kennedy.

TVs are an outdated medium as hundreds of thousands of people have already severed their TV cable service. Also, its a stupid fucking idea.

Fuck no, you can have your dystopia of pitiful stupidity.

I do find everyone should be given a computer and we should vote on idea platforms
Then when an idea is voted for by a majority.
The government instates a Roadmap
Along with educational sources / work opportunities involving the subject at hand, this way you find people who want to work for it aswell volunteers.

I realize we all have work, hobbies, etc so we can't be voting all day, everyday on every subject at hand.
Perhaps a large endeavor as a whole but for community per community... State to state? It can definetly work.
How we still vote for people and keep onto flimsy hopes that things will change is beyond me.

We have no hand in what is done by governments. It's ridiculous.
Sometimes I agree with certain points of one party
Then some of another
Then again from another.

I just want to vote on their ideas, their priorities of what they should do rather then give all the power to them.
Wasn't democracy for the people?
