Next (mini) Ice Age may be coming in as little as 15 years

What do you make of this?
Quote:
Earth is facing the prospect of a ‘mini ice age’ this century, with our sun’s activity projected to fall 60 percent in the 2030s, British astrophysicists say, based on the results of new research that they claim allows exact predictions of solar cycles.
Our planet is just 15 years from a new ‘mini ice age’ that could cause extremely cold winters characterized by the freezing of normally ice-free rivers as well as by year-round snow fields in areas that have never witnessed such climate conditions before, a group of astrophysicists claim.
The scientists could draw such a conclusion based on a new model of the sun’s activity that reportedly enables the researchers to make “extremely accurate predictions” of changes in solar activity.
Although, the fact that the sun’s activity varies within a 10-12 year long cycles was first discovered almost two centuries ago, in 1843, all the previously existing explanatory models failed to fully explain the fluctuations with each cycle as well as between the cycles.
Until now, the astrophysicists thought that the variations of the solar activity depended on the dynamo caused by convecting fluid deep inside the sun.
The latest study conducted by a research team from Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, and led by Professor Valentina Zharkova demonstrated that the variations in the Sun’s activity are caused by two dynamo processes – one deep in the convection zone of the sun and one near its surface.
The research team analyzed three solar activity cycles that cover the period from 1976 to 2008 studying magnetic field activity of the sun during this time by using a technique called principal component analysis of the magnetic field observations from the Wilcox Solar Observatory in California.
The scientists discovered magnetic waves in two different layers of the Solar interior that “fluctuate between the northern and southern hemispheres of the Sun.”
“We found magnetic wave components appearing in pairs, originating in two different layers in the Sun’s interior. They both have a frequency of approximately 11 years, although this frequency is slightly different, and they are offset in time,” said Professor Zharkova.

I'm not sure whether to believe it or not but it's getting a lot of attention. The sun has cycles, pretty much anyone with even a passing interest in astronomy knows this, but what is (supposedly) so special about the next 15 or so years is how the magnetic fields in the sun will be aligned. They will (from what I've read anyways) neutralize each other and we'll see a significant low in sun activity.
Anyone here have abundant knowledge on the subject that wants to chime in?

I stopped reading at "sun’s activity projected to fall 60 percent." That wouldn't cause an ice age. That would cause the end of most life on earth.
There isn't going to be any permanent ice at the North Pole in 15 years. This is non published junk science.
My next door neighbor worked for NASA researching the sun's impact on climate. I ask him. http://digitalcollections.library.cmu.edu/awweb/awarchive?type=file&item=679692

Well not that I'm defending the idea, but it's being reported all over, not just a site that has ufo's/flying saucers, I just Googled an article on it because they all pretty much say the same thing.
Mostly I made the post so someone could tell me how it was wrong. Because usually stuff like this is. I don't have the knowledge to dispel it however.

It's probably an agenda of some kind, the sun as a 13-15 year solar cycle where it goes from mainly inactive to very active.
That 13-15 year cycle just ended/ is about to end, so I ju st think it's a little ironic it that it coincides with around the same time the next solar cycle ends. Plus when has it done this before, I ask because unless it is frequent how do they think they're so accurate with that guess of only 15 years....unless it does happen a lot, which would mean it probably isn't a big deal.
Didn't look into it even slightly but th at was my first thought when I saw it.

the sun is going to explode in 2020 when it gets hit by the antisun, the sun's complete opposite, so it's dark and we can't see it.
it's currently rshing at us with the speed of 120000000000000 faps across space.

Despite this being the weakest solar max in a century, global temperatures are near record highs. http://www.skyandtelescope.com/astronomy-news/the-weakest-solar-cycle-in-100-years/

Every month in 2015 so far has ranked among the top four warmest for the globe. May and March were the warmest on record, January and February were the second warmest on record, and April was the fourth warmest on record.
