The name comes from the prologue of: Watership Down.

There was an animated version of the story that was made in the 1970's.

Here is a link to a clip. of it,. if it stays up.

You know you're on my list homie. It just got kind of crazy when I started that Sida thread in the Marketplace just to see if there was any interest in the plant and all of a sudden I was ambushed by offers and I hadn't even taken cuttings at that moment:facepalm:

The main problem was that no one really had anything that I really even needed in return for the cuttings "and $ really strangely holds no value in my eyes:nonono:" so I just had to throw that on the back burner for the moment.

Anyways I have another guy that's still asking me about it and I have you so I figure 2 people won't be to hard to care for. I'll hit you up soon homie:super:

Yea buddy they do change quickly:grin: I just noticed how even and unique it looked so that's what made it one of my faves and it to me just seems soooo similar in shape to fricii that I just figure it is until it starts to change more.

Ok guys I have just a few new pics and a few of them I need a lil help understanding a lil better so I hope someone can help me some with it.

Ok here is my Eriocereus/Harrisia jusbertii that seems to have been abused heavily but hell I bought it at a grocery store so what can be expected:smirk: I was told in my other thread that it seems to have some mealy bug damage "I think it was LSoares that said so" but I'm not very familiar with this pest so I was hoping one of you might have some insight for me in how to recognize this pest and also how to get rid of it "organically or non organic will be fine since no one will be consuming it"

I'm planning to take it and propagate it caringly in hopes to create a large amount of rootstock to work with in the next couple of years. Also if you can see it properly you'll notice the smaller one seems to be variegated but I don't know if it's just from the damage or not.

Ok here is a pic of my spider guardian that watched over my Coleus for a few months. I recently turned my flood lights on one light which was right above it's next and all the bugs it attracted drove him off:nonono::sad:. The next day I came out of the house and went looking for him in hopes to place him back in his nest but I found this nest with the spider building it at that time "I took a pic of it with the spider there but I can't find it atm so I'll post it up when I do. I can't wait for the eggs top hatch and I plan to take a few and place them in different areas and possibly bring some inside in hopes to give them all a great chance at life:grin:

Here's a pic of my Arabica seedlings that I sat outside "one of which dried up and died" and The cutting I took a few months ago.

Here is some of my Valerian plants I harvested and dried in hopes to encapsulate with my dried passion flowers and chamomile to make a nice relaxing sleep med to take on those stressful nights.

And finally here is my Dragon fruit I recently bought and cut open to eat. It wasn't as sweet as I expected it to be but it was still very good and would have made an awesome jam. I'm planning to buy more when I go back in hopes to make me some and give me some seeds to grow out for later grafting stock:wink:

Wow, I know they are related, but that is amazing how similar the coffee looks to psychotria!

Do you (or anyone else) know if coffee can be propogated like psychotria through leaf cloning?

Did you save seeds from your dragonfruit? It took me forever when I got one of those to go through and save as many seeds as possible... I'd eat a spoonful of fruit, chew lightly, and carefully spit as many seeds as possible onto a paper towel...

You know I was thinking the same thing so I put some leaves in some water about 3 weeks ago and still have them in there but I've yet to see any roots from them.

Also I've started saving seeds from it but I'm not done yet. I ate half the fruit and saved the other half simply for seeds that I'm gonna start harvesting tonight. I might try it your way as well.

Also I was told by kactus a few days ago to let you guys know he's not gonna be around for a lil while because some things have come up in his life that he needs to spend his time caring for but he's alright so don't worry about him but please do keep him on your mind and in your prayers "no matter whoever you pray to".

Mealybugs are whitish, lice-looking little beasts maybe about 1/8 inch long. If all by themselves, they'll look like their "body" is segmented, and once squished (they're soft) will "bleed" a rosy goo, the reason why they were once grown on Opuntia pads to produce a purple dye. They tend to concentrate in recessed areas, crevices and deep inside the "valleys" between ribs and cover themselves with a cottony substance where they bred. They come in a number of flavours, the most dangerous of which is the root mealybug because you can't see it, and there are no symptoms (apart from lack of growth and poor health), just the bug itself.

An occasional infestation is not hard to deal with, just take the plant out of the pot, wash it with a hose (go really hard on this, they may be hard to dislodge), spot remove with a tootphick and spot treat with methylated spirit on a q-tip. Ladybirds will gladly eat mealybugs as well (maybe it's a bit late in the season), so there are a lot of choices before you reach for the nukes.

Seeing your new pictures, I can't really see any sign of mealybugs, but look hard, just in case. Plants from supermarkets, flower shops, HD or whatever large chain store you have in your area are the major source of mealy bugs (or any other pest, for that matter...). Orange trees can be a source as well. Good luck.

Hey guys I just wanted to bump this to the top to remind myself in the morning to upload some pics.

Here are a couple before I hit the sac.

I'm not wanting to buy a bunch of seeds next year so I'm fermenting some tomato seeds from some of my best for sowing next year.

This is what I see when I look out my window in the morning. It's a gourd plant that's grown a bit out of control.

I discovered a better way to collect Dragon Fruit seeds. I don't have time to share it with you right now but don't worry cRm I'll get back to it tomorrow:wink:

This will be the last pic for tonight but I have TONS more I need to post tomorrow. Anyways this is one of my brussel sprout plants still producing very well:grin:

Here are a couple of pictures I snapped yesterday.

Here are some pics of a my more recent successful pup grafts. For some reason I had a lot of troubles getting these variegated Loph pups to take but I'm happy with the success I did have.

I just bought these plants a few days ago and cleaned the roots off to prepare them for replant but on the bottom of one it's wrinkly and soft. It still seems to be dry and not squishy but it bothers me a lil.

Here is my very first loph graft to take and it's been growing so slowly here lately. I had it outside for awhile but a few days ago I noticed it wrinkling so I brought it in. It's been inside for a few days now and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. What do you guys think I should do with it?

Here are just 2 pics from under one of my lights.

And here are some recent degrafts callousing and getting prepared to be planted.

Ok here are some others while I have the time.

Pom cuttings I'm attempting to water root with a lil dab of rooting hormone added to the water.

A few cuttings from my cousin I'm trying to root still.

The darker leaf in this pic is a coffee leaf I've been trying to root but the other variegated leaves come from a bush beside the house I was planning to move into but decided not to. I have no idea what they are and they've yet to root so I'll probably give up soon. Does anyone know what they are?

Here's my shitty air conditioner with Sage drying on it. The Roses beside it strung up are from my uncles and great uncles grave flower arrangements on top of their caskets. I hung the flowers to dry and placed the stems into rooting conditions in hopes to get some plants I can plant in memory of my uncle and Great uncle. The next 2 pics are of the cuttings I took. They don't really look all to well but I know I'll get roots from at least one of them from what I can see.

Some pretty cereus I recently transplanted.

Coleus I found growing beside the library "I had permission to snap a couple cuttings". Like I need more coleus varieties:facepalm:

This is my Kanna plant from cRm I recently transplanted to a more nutritious mix. I noticed when I transplanted it that it was bent in the center some how but was still growing "although slowly". After the transplant which happened about a month ago it seems to still be living although it's started to wrinkle and hasn't grown anymore:frown:

I recently started adding to my succulent collection because I had only a very few. luckily a few of my family members had some different plants so I kind of got a lil head start taking cuttings from theirs.

I walked around snapping pics one night randomly so I took these of my table of plants that I moved here to get them out from under a sapping wild cherry tree. Sense these pics were taken I've added ALOT more plants to the table so I'm basically out of room now. I've been using this table to ween a lot of my plants from little to no light into full sun because I can easily move the table to places that get slightly more sun through the day just by pushing it back and to the right when they're ready for full sun:grin:

More random pics I snapped that day. These are pics of 2 different types of wild milk weed I transplanted in hopes to put together one of the most beautiful butterfly gardens next year for myself and for my wonderful aunt.

I decided to let these 2 Chamomile plants reseed for next years grow. It seems I'll have plenty of seeds to work with.

My Kratom plants new growth since the last pic I uploaded.

Here are the Opuntia ficus indica I grew from Lemns seeds. They've been growing VERY well and now seem to be pupping. in this pic you can only see 1 pup on one of the plants but since I snapped this pic nearly all of them seem to be doing the same.

Even though it's soooo late in the season I let a few of my plants that seemed happy keep producing so I'm still getting plenty of fresh ripe Tomatoes as well as tons of Brussel Sprouts:grin:

This is all I have uploaded for now but I think I have some more interesting pics somewhere that I need to put on the computer. I'll get to it as soon as I get another chance.

I hope you all enjoy these:hi:

A lil while ago I walked into my plant room and was hit by a shitty lil surprise. One of my better variegated Loph caught a case of the rot.

Here it is after I had double grafted the pup that was right next to the rot.

The pup was so large that I decided to double graft it in hope of a better chance that it'll take on at least one of the 2. I cut the pup in half and grafted the tip first then I went back and cut the bottom of the pup off as high as I could and grafted the middle section.

I had a lot of trouble grafting them both and had to try 2 times for 1 and 3 for the other so who knows if it'll even take but that's what they look like atm.

Wish me luck guys and keep my Lophs in your prayers if you pray:super:

Geez! That's quite the picture dump! Lookin good man. What is it you are doing with the tomatoes? Fermenting them? Never seen that before, I usually just scrape out pulp/seed mix and let em dry on a paper towel...

My kanna is doing about the same as yours... I don't know what's up with these things. I've read everywhere that they are supposed to grow like weeds, but for whatever reason, mine (and yours) have just seemed to just stalled out. Make sure you let me know if you figure out a way to get em going again.

What's up cRm:hi:

I guess I need to start a new thread because it looks like you and I are the only ones still paying any attention to this thread:shrug:

Yea I'm fermenting the tomato seeds to bring a better germination rate so I don't have to collect and go through so many seeds. From how I understand it tomato seeds are covered in a coating "or so to say" that keeps them from germinating inside the tomato as it ripens or as the tomato rots. The seeds are gathered inside slimy sacks within the tomato and when the slime within the sacks start to ferment it breaks down the coating on the outside of the seed.

When you plant the seeds you collected the next year how well is your germination rate? I tried it once "with only 2 tomatoes" and had very poor germination so this is how I do it now. I talked to kactus and he said he's never had to ferment them and hasn't had much problem just harvesting them "I think he rinsed them good afterwards" letting them dry and planting but it doesn't do well for me.

You know some of those pics are 2 to 3 weeks old and I've been trying to find time to post them for a while "even though they're not much but continuing updates".

I think I know what's wrong with my Kanna though. When I was transplanting it this last time I noticed it was bent just under the green leaves at the bottom of the stem "kind of like when you take a tomato stalk and bend it under just leaving it there to hang" which I would bet keeps water from reaching the new growth of the plant as quickly as it needs to. Also the bent area seems to be dry as if it's been this way for awhile now so :justdontknow: but I've left a lot of the stem and some of the leaves under the soil in hopes it roots and brings quicker growth.

Another IL post:lol:

BTW I miss IntelligentLife and I hope he's doing alright:hug:

BTW dude did you see my shit ton of dragon fruit seeds?

I remember you asked me how I harvested them but this is the first time I've ever done it. Chewing lightly and spitting them out just took way to long so I took a few good bites of it and chewed carefully then I just spit it all into a cup and filled it up with water. After letting it set for awhile "allowing most of the seeds to collect at the bottom" I started pouring off the water and the pulp. After doing this about 3 times this is what I ended up with.

Yeah, the germ rate on my 'maters are usually good when I do em that way. Maybe with me leaving the 'pulp' junk covering the seeds when I lay em out on the paper towel, they kind of do a sort of 'mini ferment' while they are drying or something...  Good you are finding something that helps your germ rate out...

Speaking of the kanna, that damaged stem might explain why yours seem to be throwing new shoots from near the base. Mine hasn't done that yet at all, maybe it is just trying to throw out new options for itself. I hope it behaves itself for ya. I'm hoping at least one of us ends up having success with these things.

That's not a bad technique for the dragonfruit. Letting the water separate them in the cup like that is probably a lot smarter! I swear it took me FOREVER to get the little bit of seed I got out of the one I got. What about those dragonfruits you already have growing? Did you start those from seed as well?

One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree.
'Which road do I take?' she asked.
'Where do you want to go?' was his response.
'I don't know', Alice answered.
'Then', said the cat, 'it doesn't matter.'
