I go from clone to grain all the time. Clones / pins taken straight to agar and then healthy ones dropped directly to grain. Or clone tissue / pins dropped directly onto grains. Plenty of people have high success taking clone tissue directly to grains.
Of course it's more risky. But for a home grower it's not an invalid way to get clones growing.
With access to agar I can't see myself recommending a method that involves taking tissue from a dirty fruiting chamber and dropping it into sterilized grain. If it works for you, great, but It's not good advice. Every clone I've ever taken needed at least a transfer to get away from whatever was crawling all over it while in the greenhouse.

Of course agar is more reliable as you can clone further and make sure its clean.

yes it would! I thought he was cloning from a sterile sample. The drawback of LCs is that it can be hard to tell if there's any contams. But in my opinion, once tested, they are a really good way expanding a master culture.

I shacked my grain jar and its recovering...if the jar became fully colonized and smells like nushroom does it means that its contam free?

Looking nice. I don't understand why they're so mystified that dropping clean inner-stipe tissue onto grain works. If you can get a clean clone on agar first attempt, you can do it on any medium.
The downside is that it's hard to transfer away from contams on grain, and harder to see them.
I hope you didn't open the jar and sniff it, or you have probably introduced enough contams that it can't be used for g2g/master culture.
If you want to use it as a master culture, just remove a few grains with flamed tweezers in the SAB, and put them into another grain jar. Observe colonization for signs of contams. Shake at 20-30%

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...
