San Pedro parasite or disease problem
    #21937561 - 07/13/15 02:31 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

I do have a San Pedro cactus that is more than 5 years old.
I don't look after it much but I love it to some extent.
It has developed a weird dark brown spot plus some bright green spikes.
It is almost 2 metres high and that is why it bent under its own weight at half it's height.

I decided to let it grow in a right ankle because it looked funny. That might be the cause for the green spikes, maybe it's roots.

But please tell me what to do with that dark spot.

Here are some pictures

This link might help http://cactiguide.com/cactipests/
I don't have much knowledge about cacti disease but I do recognize those green spikes from my cacti
They're roots, so the cactus probably recognizes that something's wrong at that spot and is trying to make new roots for nutrients up top.
I suggest cutting the cactus around the affected region and root the top cutting by planting it in its own pot, just remove the bad region

yea, those are definitely great root buds. Id chop it right at that angle, and callous that top portion. Since it already has roots, as soon as the callous is healed, you can plant it.

oh, and your cacti are severely etiolated. That is why it is bent the way it is. The base on a pachanoi that tall should be at least 5-6" across. Mine is only 3 feet tall, and the base is 6 inches. The tip is 3.5".

:whathesaid:

Looks like some healthy rooting, probably would make a great pach log :strokebeard:

Don't worry about me, I've got all that I need. And I'm singing my song to the sky

You know how it feels, With the breeze of the sun in your eyes. Not minding that time's passing by

I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me

I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free
