just wondering if this looks healthy

Hi I just put a mono into fruiting today and realized a crack in the middle of the sub. Just wondering if the mycelium looks healthy or not, as there was some thick white spots on it, and a couple recent projects had trich. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That looks really wet. I'd take the top holes out completely for awhile until there's no more pooled water. The water droplets are fine. Just the pooling around the sides needs a little drying up.

Ok thanks. Same thing as last time lol. I guess I need to change the amount of water I use with damion5050's elementary coir tek. I was more concerned with the bright white mycelium. But if you guys think it looks good I am more than happy haha. Thanks again. Btw Mad Season....great idea with the group grow. Good luck man .

Looks good to me. I know it's hard to take decent pics of colonized sub.
Unless you see any strange discoloring you're OK
Just don't keep looking at it Needs an accumulation of CO2 to fully colonize.

Lol I let it go for about 8 days before checking, but definitely guilty of looking too much still. Just completely fascinates me how the mycelium grows. But i will restrain from now on haha. Thanks.

bad advice, you can peek as much as you want. it doesnt need co2 to colonize either, but any way the co2 levels are right back up a minute or so after you close the lid again.
tbay; fruit it if its 100% white on the surface.

Most of the time cracked subs come from moving totes without support under it. Nt bad. I've dunked went to drain the water and the sub fell apart into like 7 or 8 pieces. I sorted them back into there respected spots and let em go. Think that flush was better than my first probably due to surface area exposed. If it breaks into pieces bad though after that harvest yu will be forced to chunk it because you'll tear it all to hell harvesting.

Thanks guys. The surface was completely white.....some spots were not as full of bright white spots though. Is this what I am supposed to be waiting for, the bright white rhizo spots on the surface to be covering 100%? And UHSIceman, same happened on my first tub.....went to drain after dunking and it broke in half haha. Had an ok second flush then just tossed it outside with some contaminated sub I had. Have a couple clusters popping up now, damn slugs are eating them all lol .

hmm, no what you call rhizo I guess is what happens when the surface is all colonized and some strands grow out over the colonized parts again.
the pic in your OP looks real close to being done, just 1 or 2 tiny spots that arent colonized. that was 2 days ago so I'm sure its ready to fruit now!

Any kind. Copper tubing copper wire. They dnt like to cross it. Copper tubing prolly be the best due to diameter and cost. Make the lil slimey bastards cross it. 3/4 to 1 in copper tubin flexed around your garden.

I have never used that product, but sprinkling cupric oxide around my patch has noticeably cut down on the mysterious chunks I used to find taken out of my fruit bodies. Slugs are some of my favorite creatures, but they really really do not care for that stuff......

Wow haha....thats intense. I have never heard of that. I went and took a look in the basement and found some lava rock and lined the garden with it. I guess it cuts the slugs and snails up same as egg shells? Lol

Just a quick question about the outdoor garden....I noticed that one of the (many ) clusters is pretty much in the sun for the second half of the day. I just ripped up some grass and covered the whole garden with it. Does that sound like an appropriate thing to do after the mushrooms have already began to grow?
