Are the lighter mycelium areas growing at a different rate than the obviously stronger areas? The growth rate is going to be the giveaway in the situation. Can we get another picture from a different angle?

In the very middle of that picture you see a mound of cobweb with one right next to it and healthy mycelium above it. Looks like cobweb laden with spores to me. I could be wrong but I've dealt with this a few times.

Yeah, I'd put money on it being cobweb

Hit it with peroxide and hope, or bury it and hope, sorry man.

What did you use as bulk sub? If you cover i guess you're fucked though. Toss it or try to fruit it if youre that desperate.

Cobweb mold can't survive in conditions with FAE. Cobweb grows in stagnant, CO2 dense air. If you're giving it enough FAE then you should be fine. Just wait and see. Don't listen to these idiots telling you to toss it. Worst comes to worse you can hit it with peroxide. Just wait. Even if it IS cobweb mold, it isn't the end of the world.
Edit: Oh, and AVOID spraying it with peroxide unless you are completely certain that you are dealing with cobweb mold. You risk damaging and weakening your mycelium, giving competitors the upper hand.
Do you have holes in your tub???

Dude. It is cobweb. I'm certain of it. Like I said you have a couple options- whatever you want to do. But it is not near colonized enough for the mycelium to get an upper hand IMO, you can try peroxide, or take it outside, try to clear out as much of the contam as possible, break up and bury the healthy rest. I have a cluster of 7 coming up from my contam pile right now. Try the peroxide, read read read, check to see how it looks, read read read, decide whether to let it keep going, read read read, read read read, probably end up burying it.

I'd honestly just say bye to it. This is day 11 of colonization. It should have easily been finished by now. If not at least way further along than what it is right now. Should be very close to done. I'm 100% sure it isn't cobweb. Cobby is extremely aggressive. It'd have the whole thing covered by now, and it's WAYYY wispier. Dactylium is commonly mistaken for cobby. It might be something related, or just extremely wispy mycelium, but the substrate must be too wet or something for it to be this damn slow.
What's your spawn ratio?

It looks like cobweb, most likely trich though.
The mycelium growth looks familiar to me also.
It looks like it did when I was testing higher water concentrations in my casing layers. It looks like you might of used a bit too much water in your substrate and the mycelium just take for ever to colonize overly wet parts, which will lead to eventual contamination.
10 days though, that whole thing should be white.

Jonr said: Ok this is a UPDATE: I started fanning my monotub and I also added a little peroxide spray to the "infected" areas. So far the mycelium has doubled and the the "cobweb" stalled. Going to keep this up just to see if it works. If not I'll start over

sounds like the right steps to me! I'd bet it's going to work out for you. Just be patient. And maybe start fanning a bit more to dry it up a tad? Obviously you're wanting to avoid FAE for the time being, but since this has turned into an experiment, you have to be open minded and keep track of what works. Best of luck!
