LGBR - Flour or Whole?

Cant find any organic rice where i live so im gonna order it. Question is should i buy the pre-ground flour, or get the whole rice and grind it myself?

Im thinkin that the whole rice would be fresher if i ground it, but the flour would be much more fine than i could grind myself.

What do you get?

Just get some brown rice at the supermarket. Yeah, the cheap one.

Grind it and you get some nice BRF.

Yes you are correct. When you grind up the rice to make the flour yourself it will be fresher. You have to add a little more water because the fresh flour absorbs more.

there isn't anything wrong with using regular LGBR w/o grinding it, i never ever do, i use it whole. Cook it with about 3/4 of the water that you are supposed to and PC it or dont, it hasn't ever caused a problem for me and its way less work.

I prefer to grind my own rice. a dedicated coffee grinder is key, flour works too, I've used Arrowhead Mills brf with great results. I've attempted the quart jar tek (r.v.) and got contams in 4 out of 12 jars, then I used the colonized jars to innoculate bulk; came out great but my pf tek method is easier, more familiar and more successful.  So I guess you can go either way  :rolleyes:

This is great info because it is a problem finding the flour. Is there any reason why I can't use the malt extract that is used for the liquid mycelium tek.

I would say that there is not enough nutrients in malt extract to get a decent flush.
