my first p. cyans..
    #2193635 - 12/20/03 11:10 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

the rain let up for a couple of days here in humboldt and me and a buddy thought it might be good to go out to the spots and check around. hippies and tweakers had already combed over the dunes where we were looking, then I was buy my self searching through a well combed over gully and found onr un-molested patch of the cyans. pretty large caps, about 2-3 inches around. I picked about one 1 and 1/2 ounce of wet weight, and they were really good! sorry I dont have any pics, no batterys for my evil battery eating camera. I'll go out next time its nice and sunny and check out the spots and get pics.

I took a road trip to humboldt a couple days ago. I was looking in the dunes about the same time you were. All the dunes were trampled over but by luck the first place I looked I found about an ounce wet. Didnt find any the next 2 days of looking. Do you think anymore will be popping up soon.

I am sure that more popped up today, it frosted over last night and then it was totally warm all day after the frost melted. I have been told that this makes way for prime hunting conditions, its just all about getting out there before the hippie/tweakers do.

there is a fair bit of contention on this matter, but in general, it there is a hard frost, current pins will continue to mature, but few pins will come later.

Yea it does get a bit insane, I was at the same place a few days ago and some kids actually asked me where the mushies were! I didn't find any that day but a friend with better timing helped me out. apparently the trick is to go before they open the gate... now wheres my headlamp...

I never have gone to the gated spot you speak of, but I hear they are very abundant out there. I know people that go there at midnight with flash lights, they have to hide the light with their coats so it doesnt cast light into the sky, pretty sketchy stuff if you ask me...
