Really? I've heard alot of people say it's the best one yet but some of the hard core Tolkien fans are a bit upset by all the changes in it.

I was by a theatre today and wanted to go in but I was with my cousin and his wife and their 1 year old so ... ya we decided it would be better to wait for another time, that and it was sooo packed. I loved the first to tho and have been thinking about seeing it since it came out, probably the first time I've paid any attention to that sort of thing since high school.

There were quite a few changes from the books...

But I still think it's fucking awesome. Best of the series, IMHO.

I need to read the books I never got into them but a friend got me to sit still for 3 hours once and showed me the second one and I feel in love. The triology will probably be my next books purchased, I'd have rather done it the other way around but what the hell .

I thought it was the best one, ....althought it was very long... .I mean yeah, it had to finish the story, but 3 and a half hours is a long time to sit still.

Yeah ...more deviations in this movie than in the last two combined.

Im excited nevertheless....I love LORD of the RIngs...Ill problably end up goin in costume hehe. I just saw Bad SANTA, pretty good little flik. I actually heard the movie for Lord of the Rings were stripted before the Books!!! the hobbit was the very first story and then they decided to make sequels to the Hobbit and call it Lord of the Rings on the big screen and then decided to make books out of them as well. But (from what I heard) the book's are depictions of the movies rather than the typical format of cinema which goes the other way around.....book>>>movie. Im problably wrong though.

you were misinformed, Tolkien wrote all these books with no thought to a movie whatsoever. He first published the hobbit in the 30's and then finished the whole series by the late 50s. Before he died he sold the copywrites for a movie.
READ THE BOOKS! the hobbit is and always has been my fav book. The 3 books after that are fuckin awsome too. you don't know the half of it. Tolkien wrote whole other languages and historys and maps for middle earth.

Ok Ok....thats why I said, "thats what I heard"!!! I know the hobbit was made a while ago cause I read it in highschool. As far as Lord of the RIngs went, somebody told me they were makin the movies before they decided to release the books but I guess I was wrong.

I keep hearing rumours that Jackson is going to do The Hobbit now, too. Anyone else heard this?

I'd be interested to see how he does it.

Saw one of the first screenings on the 17th and thought it was fantastic !

I always said Jackson would do a prequel to LOTR (The Hobbit) but haven't heard any rumours to that effect as of yet.

They can't just end it with ROTK goddammit !

Awesome, but I hope he doesn't go overboard with trying to fit Liv Tyler into the story...
