The Thunderbolt (Colpo di fulmine)
    #21935680 - 07/12/15 11:59 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

I believe that is the Italian translation for love at first sight.

Went to California for the weekend. Met this lady at the 4th of July picnic. I was not looking to meet anyone yet she was 'telepathically' begging me to talk to her. We spent about an hour together and I invited her over to my host's house for dinner. After dinner she snuggled up next to me like a cat. Later we went for a walk and held hands the whole time and talked and giggled like kids. We never even kissed.

I had to leave the next day for Vegas. *sigh*

Now I have not dated in a decade and never wanted to again due to an extremely painful episode that almost destroyed me. That - and at age 60 and being super fit, I generally only meet out of shape, overweight, angry women. This lady was way younger and a trim bicyclist/gym rat.

Now I am totally smitten & giddy like a teenager with his first crush.

We are already making plans for her to come visit in the fall for a weekend. :naughty:

Somehow, though, with my emotions running out of control, I fear I may easily blow it.

This revelation will be a shocker to all who see me as Spock-like.

Sounds like you're already good to go, but you can't wait until fall, you have to reel that fish in..

She told her gf that she thought I was about 48 (she is 38!) If she asks me, I will have to tell her my real age. I know that violates the bro-code, but I am not looking merely to get laid. :ohwell:

There's a code that says you can't tell your actual age?

I feel like a sucker for actually using my real age on dating/hookup apps. I feel like everyone assumes people discount their age, so they just add a few years on to whatever someone says their age is,

OC, with this post you have deepened my perception of your character to include a layer of emotional complexity: that of compassion, love and joviality. I beseech Odin, Poseidon and Ra to grant you only the best possible outcome, with what sounds like an amazing woman.

On my drive home from California, I laughed and I cried as 10 years of unexpressed emotions came gushing out. I hoped that it was just a happening and that it was already over so that I could go back to being 'safe and comfortable'.

At the same time I wanted to rush back and take her.

What kind of idiot thinks of marriage after a few hours together and with no sex? My rational mind tells me I am projecting all of my fantasies onto some random woman that gave me a little attention and affection, yet nothing like this has ever happened.

I am going crazy now as she is on vacation in Vermont with her relatives and I don't want to call and look all needy, but I crave contact to the extreme.

When I said I hadn't dated in 10 years, I had a few one-night stands that were totally unfulfilling before I gave up. A few minute hug with her was 1,000 times more awesome than banging some chick that I was not really interested in.

Rational OC is doing serious battle with emotional OC. :box:

I totally empathize with you there man. One brief glance from the right person at the right time can send one spiraling into a deep loving obsession. Enjoy it man. Enjoy the effect she has on your, whether or not anything comes of it.

Well, it appears it is over before it began.

In our last conversation 2 weeks ago she talked about visiting. Everything was positive and upbeat.

Now - nothing. No response to e-mail or phone. For all I know she could be dead, in the hospital or just got scared from the intensity and ran screaming into the night. We know no one in common so I have no way to check on her.

With women who-the-fuck knows? Now I am going back to being a hermit monk. *sigh*

As an Australian, I've found more success in America than in Australia. So maybe you'll find more success the other way around.

Today my heart sings and dances. Tomorrow may bring tears, but today I celebrate.

My erstwhile love interest was out of state visiting a relative and had no phone or internet access. I just got a brief e-mail telling me she will call when she returns.

I hope my wrist wounds heal before I see her next.
