Hi, just a few questions....
During moving an old tricho from a ground location, some of the base had to be cut because it was so big and heavy. So now I have a nice thick tricho log, (50cm across, one attached pup, big ball of roots) Im currently drying it to callous the severed roots indoors, well ventilated and dark. Its currently the middle of winter here, although the absolute minimum it ever reaches is like 3-4 degrees celcius and most nights its 8 to 12 degrees celcius. I think that given the size of this log it needs to be planted in the ground, but I could buy a massive pot. (The largest pot I have lying around barely fits and its old plastic).
My questions are...
1. Are the exposed roots safe? How long can the log last in this state and what can I do to best ensure its health?
2. Given that it is winter, should I store or plant it? Pot or ground? Size of pot needed?
3. If i plant it in the ground, should I make the soil the same as the pot, (50% perlite, the rest, cactus osmo mix, grit sand, and some peat moss) Or do I need to do something different for the soil for ground planting?
Thanks alot!!!

1. Yes, the exposed roots are safe. If you put it in darkness with no light, it will stall and cease to grow. People leave cuttings dormant for months, even over a year.
2. Even if you plant it, the cutting will be dormant in winter. All you do is increase chances that itll be damaged in some way.
3. You want a well draining soil, weather its in ground or a pot. If you have lots of clay in your area, you will have to seriously amend the soil in and around your planting area.
