HEPA filters and high humidity
    #21933348 - 07/12/15 12:36 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Hello Forum!

I need your collective wisdom. I am at stage of planning the set-up of my grow room. I bought 76'x76' grow room and was planning to section it into spawn-run room, lab, and fruiting chamber.

I was planning to install a hepa air-intake filter for the grow room and have my laminar flow hood in there too, and then I came across this info that HEPA filters' quality may deteriorate in very humid environments, especially if there is condensation build up on them.

So, now I am thinking of buying another grow room for my lab, but don't know what to do with hepa filter air intake/exhaust or with HEPA air purifier for the same matter.

Any insight would be helpful. Thank you!

a) it is far from being a mushroom farm (whatever it is) b) answering your question, my hepa filter will soak in water, making adhesives in filter dissolve and leaving holes in the filter (according to HEPA filters manufacturer). Shall I explain you why I don't want holes in my HEPA filter?

I have HEPA filters on my fruiting rooms air intake.  They are in the wall and shielded from the rain.  Probably overkill but they have not degraded since they don't get wet.

Thank you! It's good to know that they don't get wet. I was just thinking if there is some precipitation on the walls of grow room, there might be some on a filter as well.

I have a cover on it in the grow room with a duct that distributes it evenly along the length of the room.  You definitely don't want the filter to get wet but it probably isn't even necessary.  Unless you think you can grow a bunch of shrooms without growing any mold.  Which would be quite a feat!

Seemed unnecessarily rude.
