How much did you use and how many days did you do each pull over?

For the water acid extract I just added my powdered cactus to the water and dropped in around a quarter cup of vinegar and boiled for like 45 mins the next pull I did for 30 and the last I only did like 10 mins because the biter Ness and color stopped leaching from the cactus. I add a splash of vinegar per pull. Makes the alkaloids more water soluable.

I use enough water to make the cactus flow around like thick water/just enough to cover it. Make sure it doesn't run out of water and burn in the pan.

If I'm on low slow cooking, should I cook longer ?
Also my jars with the alcohol and powder in have expanded massively and now fill the whole jar. Have I done something wrong ?

Yep but would just boil it vigorously for a while each pull. mescaline is VERY heat stable and won't break down at the temp that water boils, 212° F, so as long as there is water in the pan to take the heat it won't ever get above 220 and you mesc will be potent

And if you boil it you can do it all in one day having it scraped up and weighed and all in one day.
I would say it's the cactus absorbing the water and alcohol. And as long as you do a second pull you get all of the stuff trapped in the cactus from the first pull anyways. But if your not boiling the mixture it's best to let it sit a few days to fully extract and break down the cactus.
That's why I just do it on the stove top, it's just so fast that way lol

Yeah I'm actually doing both at the same time cus hey you gotta try everything once lol
My problem is the cactus in the alcohol has expanded so much it's almost filled the jar, will it separate if I leave it be?

Probably not but if you do a second pull you will get any leftover residual from the first. If you do a third pull you'll get the residuals from the second pull so just at least do 3 pulls

How do I do the first pull when I can't get it to separate, this is the cold water and alcohol btw. It's getting confusing now talking about tea one minute and jars the next.

Haha I get ya. You'll just have to get what liquid you can from the first pull. I squeeze mine through a t shirt and most of the pulp will drain. Then you do the second pull.
I use the shirt method whether I'm doing jars or tea. Just because a shirt can be squeezed so hard without ripping. I'll even take that crudely filtered liquid and fine filter it with a paper towel draped over a spaghetti strainer or other similar strainer item

Ah ok I was thinking dark material would form on top and I'd use a syringe to get it off.
No worries ill use a damp cheesecloth and a bigger jar for the next pull!

Right, I must be doing something wrong.
I just added a load of water to the slow cooker to make it runny again and tried straining it through a cheesecloth and a t shirt. Everything went through the cheesecloth, powder, water the lot. With the t shirt it just sits on top not draining through. When I squeezed it the powder and cactus snot all went through the t shirt.
Help!

Hmm well the swelling problem with the jars is obviously too much water. If I use 70 % running alcohol is it still likely to swell up as much?

Yes it will still swell. If the t shirt isn't working then Idk what to do man. If you get it in a ball in the t shirt the goodies should be able to be wrung out of the pulp. It's always worked for me this way. And it will have a snotty consistentsy but you should still catch a lot of fiber and stuff with shirt, reducing the amount needed to consume.
I've only done this with san pedro so I'm not sure about the torch chips. It should work the same though.

I'm gonna get a new tea shirt and double it up, what was happening before is that I was squeezing so hard it was pushing powder through the shirt. Shame it's not course ground really.
Impatient, dud you filter your cold water and alcohol extraction jars the same way and how long did you you leave the material in there each time before straining ?

I've always alplied heat to my cactus extracts. Sorry if I made it sound any differently. But when I did the alcohol water boil and when I did the vinegar and water boil I did pulls of around 1 hour for the first, while boiling well, 30 mins for the second and maybe 20 mins for the third. I'm sorry I even brought up the alcohol originally lol I was still experimenting myself with the best way to extract. I think heat and a splash of vinegar gives the cleaner product out of the two extraction methods.
I'm on mescaline atm so I'm sorry if this didn't make enough sense hahaha. I find it much more recreational than mushrooms.

lol take it easy, you don't wanna overdo it
Ah well at least I'll know how to do the tea. It's just filtering the damn stuff, it's so fine and snotty. Ayahuasca was so much easier.
Has anyone any idea how to filter my jars, it just will not separate and looks like cactus porridge...

Try using paper towels not duble layered(it'll only make it slower) in a spaghetti strainer. It will take hours but if you go to bed once its set up it'll be done in the morning is my guess
