WTF??? They actually grew?????? WHAT

In my other thread the other day I said this:

voluum said: Hey guys a patch I've been picking from for over a year now got overturned by the council and I could only find 2 shrooms. So, in the face of seeming defeat I decided to return and take mycelium from all the different spots where I know 110% only p subs have ever grown there (I have never seen another type of shroom even remotely near it).
I transferred it into a plastic tub and misted it, put the lid on then put away. This was this afternoon.
There is 2 just past pin p subs, some decayed shrooms (went black) and lots of mycelium. What else do I need to do/not do?
Pics 1 & 2 are when I just fresh put the mycelium in a temporary container until I got home and Pics 3 & 4 are the mycelium in the new container after being misted and being stored for a few hrs.

I've been misting them daily, keeping the lid on. In my area it's been like nearly freezing everyday around 2-3 celsius and anyway the pins I transplanted into the container from the patch that got destroyed by the council, have actually started to grow. In the pictures one was BARELY open and the other was not at all. They are fucking growing!!! WTF. What does this mean for me? Does this mean the mycelium is in tact and isn't damaged? Does this mean they will keep fruiting??

This doesn't need a second thread.
On topic though it isn't too surprising the main issue, as I understand it, is that you are going to contam pretty quick. Mycelium is pretty tough so it is certainly alive. I belive other said you could clone it or take a spore print of one of the new shrooms. Your bucket of debris is the opposite of sterile and not fully colonized so you need a sample that you can cultivate in sterile conditions.

I've read alot that it's incredibly super difficult to get p subs to cultivate in sterile conditions. Why can't it grow in the tub? The outdoors isn't exactly sterile either, maybe it needs it?
EDIT:

SomeGuy said: after several failed attempts to cultivate P. ovoideocystitiata, I've come to the conclusion that they(and many woodlovers)just won't fruit from a sterile sub. There is something to do with the bacteria that it actually needs. You may find you need a casing layer of nonsterilized sub to get it to fruit. Thats just my understanding and thought I would pass it along

Generally you want to start with STERILE spawn and then use PASTURIZED substrate. Now I am not expert on wood consuming fugi so I could very well be wrong about that. No matter what though your best bet is to take a sample which you can use for a controlled grow. Throw a slice of pizza outside and see if it gets moldy. Generally is will be consumed before you see the types of mold you see inside. This illustrates the differences between indoor and outdoor cultivation. It is also why when people experience mold they are often told to bury it outside. Outside is a different game.

1. Put a piece of tinfoil in a new ziplock bag.
2. Using gloves and a sterile blade remove a cap which has just broken it's veil.
3. Place the cap on the tinfoil in the ziplock and close it.
4. Wait until you see the cap fully open (usually a day or so).
5. With clean gloves remove the cap, fold the foil in half, and close bag.
Now you have a spore print. It is probably full of contamination but you can cut them out on agar.

x100 seriously. I told you to get a clone tissue and get spores and put it back outside. Then you asked about your dogs. Idk what to say to that, but I have dogs too and they're all good with it. They don't like mushrooms lol not sure why. Won't even go near them. Also you can use flower pots and raised beds.
You can probably do indoor cult. I was going to do that myself this winter. However you need a culture to always have when cultivating. You can get sterile spawn. As said before. And just like regular cubes it is sterile until you get it in bulk (poo and wood chips). You can't just expect a pile from the back yard to last you forever. It's ideal to get a culture and spores for back up/more cultures.
You've been told to do agar a lot. I think you should do some reading on it. Here's some great places to look. READ THOROUGHLY:

Also like said before indoors is for some reason mold haven. Outside in a horse field poo isn't covered in molds all over. It just looks like poo. Inside tho wet manure left out gets REALLY gross.
