old jars germinating on their own?

Ok I have a weird problem. I whipped up a batch of PFtek pint jars (vermiculite and rice floor). Sealed them properly and then set them aside, thinking that I would steam them tomorrow (to sterilize them). The jars I used are old and have been used before. They have been sitting in a box for about a year (since my last grow). Well I got lazy (or busy) and they sat there for about four days. When I came back to them I noticed that they appear to be germinating with the familiar white fluff of mycelium growth. I HAVE NOT injected my spores yet. Nor have I sterilized the jars with steam, but they seem to be on their way to colonizing. Is this possible? Is it possible that old spores are still in the jars and have just started anew? Why is there no contamination (green forest mold)? Will the contamination show up later? I guess my question is twofold: Is it possible that I'm growing mushies from year old spores that have been sitting in the jars and (2) If that is what is happening should i just let them go or should i steam them and inject? If they actually fruit then I will have saved my spores for another day, but if they are bound to draw forest mold then I might have to throw out all my jars. What do you think?

99.99% chance it's contamination, there's spores everywhere. of course if you leave your jars for 4 days without sterilization something will grow.
I can be reasonably sure 99.99% it's not cubes growing it's probably green mold.
green mold is just as white as cubes, usually more white actually.
green is just the spores it produces, usually it won't make green patches in jars right away.
many molds are white the spores are different colors, when it gets around to making them. your jars are fucked though start over.

Thanks. I knew it was too good to be true. Should I pitch all the jars or can I repack and steam them (which would kill everything right?)? Id rather not buy all new jars, but I will if I have to.
Thanks again.

you never need to pitch the jars, that's like throwing tupperware away because of moldy cheese.
the jars can be cleaned and re-used over and over. just try to go outside to dump them, most people prefer not to get mold spores in their house on purpose. since they still look white the molds haven't made spores yet. if you're curious leave those jars another few days and it will look like a rainbow.
