I sold alarm systems door to door for a while. It pays good when you sell but it is hard to get people interested. You literally have about 10 seconds when they open the door to get their attention.

It is a job that is tough if you can't handle rejection. I was pretty good at it, my income was mad streaky though. Some weeks I would make a shit load and then nothing the next week.

It was stressful because it was commission only. I would get $300 in commission for a sale and there was bonuses if you hit the sales goals etc. Also they would feed us lunch every day.

I worked with a few other guys we rolled a van around & smoked herb all day and were allowed to drink within reason because it makes your sales pitch better if your a little buzzed. Also we worked sunny, rain, sleet or snow.

We pretty much would only work in shady ass ghetto neighborhoods in Sacramento, Yuba city, Stockton, etc. and we would literally follow crime headlines. I remember there was a home invasion in the pocket area in Sacramento, and we went out there the next day because selling alarms is really selling fear of your neighbors and crime and insecurity.

I wouldn't want to do it again but it was a learning experience and helped me sell at other sales jobs I've had that were not door to door. Maybe if you had a better product it's different.

This dude is the worlds greatest door to door sales man. We would watch this dude to get pumped up.
