I was going to say this. The recoil from a 30mm would send a drone spinning out of control.
Also, that video is not like videogames. Videogames are imitating reality; not the other way around.

I don't usually support our involvement in foreign affairs, but I would support us fighting ISIS. ISIS is an enemy to the rest of the world.
It's ironic how the media made a bigger deal about Iraq than ISIS.

I think ISIS has been in the works for much longer than that, the weapons from Syria just gave them some security in actively capturing territory. But I agree that giving weapons to rogue factions has proven time and time again to be a fool's plan.

Well you can be the first to tell them you want peace, and when they refuse you can then be the one to suggest the fight be "honorable". See how well that works.

dishonerable is raping pillaging and killing innocent civilians. dishonerable is fighting a insurgent guerrilla war. Im sure the us would love to fight the taliban/isis whatever toe to toe. but instead they wear civilian clothing and hide. Maybe i should post a vid of these fucks throwing gay people off of roofs. But your right war must be fair and honorable.

The usa knew about ISIS early on. They wanted ISIS. They even admit it. It was their goal to support the rise of ISIS
http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2015/05/newly-declassified-u-s-government-documents-the-west-supported-the-creation-of-isis.html
creating ISIS was a specifically stated goal of the US administration. It was not an accident, it was deliberate. Only when Assad kicked their asses they retreated to IRAQ and decided to do their own thing instead.
all you morons who supported the overthrow of assad are responsible. It has been public knowledge that the sryian opposition were terrorists since the very beginning yet you blithering idiots support your terrorist government like a bunch of zombie sheep.
fuck you guys, you supported this and now you have the audacity to cry about ISIS? Fuck off.

It would have happened whether or not people supported it. The government no longer cares about it's constituents. I don't really have an opinion on the Syrian situation because there is so much misinformation here in the states.

Based on their history, asociations, donors, and the documents and information released about them I can, but the average American is obviously to stupid to do so.
it was blatantly obvious to anyone not blinded by the color of his skin that Obama was connected with the most nefarious, malicious people around, but I actually did research unstead of just "duuuuuur black president"

America is swayed by sensational ideas and emotions. Obama is a good speaker. And it was hip to support him.
Terrible reasons, but that's why he was elected.

idk if the ac130 rocks a 30mm and they prob use the 120mm mortar to drop tht large group and smaller cannons on the single guys instead of a missle from a klick out.

I built the circuit board for a Quad-Missile Launch System that was used 'over there'.
Four Suits came into my work and showed us a helicopter gunship video of our finished product.
I couldn't sleep or work for three days; still remember someone's leg flying through the air.
From that point, I now refuse to work on any military project or any 'job' requiring a security clearance.

there's tons of footage just like this from c-130's, apache helicopters, various fighter/attacker jets, and yes, drones from afghanistan and iraq and all over really. is this the first time you've seen footage like this?
also, i dunno if i would consider it "awesome"
ISIS is a horrible faction to have existing anywhere on the globe. those guys were actively fighting our ground forces i'm guessing.
i would just have a hard time pressing the trigger unless my life was immediately in danger. i don't know. stuff like this just doesn't sit well in my gut. i don't like the idea of murder in any form really, but in a war situation there's really not much else you can do right?
it's pretty lame that we as a species can't seem to get past violence and killing each other seemingly left and right. if we spent half the money we do on arms and violence and spent it on education and technological advances, i think some pretty amazing things would happen. instead we have people trying to take over large expanses and oppressing free thought and various human rights. war is fucked up.

They said 30mm in the video, used that all up and started shooting hellfires. Imagine how fucked up that guy that got hit pretty much directly with a hellfire missile was.

I was surprised by it. Hard to make shit out but he seemed to mostly be in one piece. Would never expect someone hit directly by a missile to stay in one piece.

I was talking about the one at 14:40. Missile pretty much lands right on top of his head and you see the body go cartwheeling off.

that's what I'm saying. Also did some more research and it's actually around 110k. That's over double median yearly income for families in the us.

I seriously doubt it costs 110k a missle where'd u pull that number from outta ur ass? Dewd was walking around with guns missle launchers all kinda shit. He was clearly serious about killing people. Would you let him get away jus to come back and kill your friends, or pull another major terrorist plot, or train 10000 more troops, or any number of things jus to save a bit of money on the backend?

It all depends on the caliber, but I'm sure that the government has some sweet hookups on ammunition so that the average bullet is much cheaper than a dollar. Missiles are just incredibly more expensive than a jacketed piece of metal.

that's the part i was referring to. something churns in the pit of my stomach when i see that... do you realize what just happened? dude's already fucked up and then takes no less than a 20mm round and a piece of him goes flying. it's fucked.
then i remember what the Islamic State has done to the surrounding territories. Systematically rounding up troves and troves of innocents and lined them all up and fired round after round into their backs, massacring entire villages.
humans are fucked up yo. can anyone really look themselves in the mirror and say "yeah this whole situation we are dealing with is fine with me" ?
fuck, we could be exploring other galaxies with the money and energy we've spent as a planet on war and destruction.

To play devil's advocate for a second, if I were that guy knowing the reality of the situation I found myself in, and how unlikely it would be that I'd survive for very long if just left there, I would hope someone put me out of my misery whether it be headshot or 30mm explosive round. The alternative is suffering an hours or days long painful death in all probability.
Now that that is out of the way. I kinda doubt most people can just be okay with it. Anyone who claims to be okay with it probably hasn't really devoted any time at all towards thinking about exactly what is going on. When you're not the one taking the life and you can just label them all "scum of the Earth" it's kind of easy to disregard life so easily. There are always going to be those people who have no problem with killing. But most people if they actually sat down to contemplate it all, would probably find it hard to digest.
I wish things weren't this way, I wish we lived in an idealistic world where this type of action was never even nessecary. The fact is we don't and it is. Knowing that, we then have to learn to accept it. If I had my way, we'd be devoting all military funds towards exploration and scientific research. There's another thing people like to hide from, and that's the fact that this planet will not sustain us forever, and the tipping point is coming up a lot sooner than anyone wants to accept or believe. We need to find a more sustainable way to live here, or develop new technology to be able to find new homes. Otherwise all this war in the name of peace won't matter anyways.

That video is from the early stages of the war in Afghanistan iirc. The Taleban would just camp out in the middle of the desert because they didn't anticipate the power of the USAF.
But yeah, I don't think there's anything particularly awesome about taking out Stone Age goat herders with overwhelming firepower from a couple of kilometers away. It's coward shit.

The Hicks pic was one I already had uploaded and it fit here nicely. You'd think it would be a no brainer to wipe out a group that was beheading people and reportedly been infiltrating the states, but there's no way they're getting rid of a perfectly good boogeyman to terrorize the Middle East and plant fear in the minds of the world. Plus it's fun to play with the drones. Hell, we don't even know for sure who it is they're picking off in the videos. It could be anybody.
