Hey folks I was hopin someone out there could help me out with this. Ive got a treasure coast project goin on right now growing on some Hpooverm coir. It's an outdoor grow because I figured I wouldn't have much chance of contams but I think I see something funky goin on unless the myc is turning blue without handling

I know it's hard to see but near the bottom right of the substrate in the first pic and the bottom left on the second maybe you can spot the blueish/ greenish discoloration. It just started doing this yesterday, so maybe if it is contam. I can spray it with some peroxide?

Yeah I see it, looks like trych.
The worst thing about contams is generally just the millions of contam spores it will release into your house. A contam itself isn't the end of the world though, especially in an outdoor grow. I'm a little confused about why it's in the bag if it's an outdoor grow though?
A contam in an outdoor grow can be ignored or a lil peroxide spray. The myc will keep it localized (assuming it's developed enough) and continue developing around it. Your mushrooms will grow and still be safe to eat.
This is all based on a normal outdoor grow though, looks like you might be doing something a little different.

I am curious as well to the burlap bag... never seen anyone use them to grow mushrooms, so far anyways. I am ready to inoculate some outdoor patches very soon.

Ah man,... I hope it stays localized. Thanks for the help, Ill just spray it with peroxide and hope for the best. I don't really have any particular reason with using a burlap bag other than convenience. If I just put it on the ground there's a few rouge chickens on the property that will find it and destroy it. The mycelium seems to not mind though and grows right through the bag in some spots.

Why I wondered is because part of the reason the outdoor grows work without pasteurization or sterilization of substrates is because of the beneficial microbes found naturally in the soil. At least that has been my understanding. I just wondered how it worked with just laying a bag on the ground is all. Just interested in learning from other people's experiences.

I have it set on a cardboard tray ad it's growing on the cardboard now. I guess I never even thought about mixing with soil and I did actually pasteurize the sub. Maybe my method isn't the best to follow. I barely know what I'm doing, I'm just hoping to grow my first ounce or so of cubes.
