Specimen #1

Habitat:
Growing in forest floor surrounded mostly by pine, in the soggy underbrush with lots of dead wood and decaying matter

Gills:
yellow, attached

Stem:
solid, 1 cm diameter, 4 cm length slight darkness on bruising

Cap:
Domed, 2 cm diameter




Specimen #2

Habitat : Same as Specimen #1

Gills: Rusty yellowish orange, attached

Stem: Thick, solid, creamish and rusty in colour

Cap: Flat in more mature, more convex in younger/smaller specimens

Bruising: Dark and brownish.






Specimen #3

Habitat: As both above

Gills: Orange, attached

Stem: Thin, almost hollow

Cap: Almost waxy, dark brownish orange,

Bruising: dark purplish/brownish

#1 and #2 - Both look like Gymnopilus allantopus from what i can tell.

Number 3 look's like a Gymnopus sp or Galerina sp. ;from what i can tell. None of those are active

At least i'm in the right species; i have plenty of experience picking in Europe but this was my first foray into mushroom hunting here in WA.
Do you think i'm likely to find active gyms in a similar habitat to which these were growing?

No worries :thumbup:

Theres a good chance you will find active Gymnopilus around the Perth area, they usually grow from Paperbark swamps or banksia logs, but they can also grow from eucalyptus and maybe pine.
The only potent Psilocybes in WA are down south in the micro climates.
