Okay, DH and I went to Three locations today. Two of them in West Settle. At the first spote we found two mulched areas with about 14 small shrooms.
Then we went to Lincoln Park, walked around for about an houjr and did not find any. Then i said well DH, we must have walked this way for a reson. ANd then i found about 14 shrooms. And then DH walked one mulch patch over and we found a few shrooms. Of which pictures posted below are a verification of discovery.
Then we drove to the U district and found about 15 more and a few at Green lake in the grass.
So enjoy and shroomy hollidays.

i noticed that the weather was outstanding today for a hunt...so was yesterday...but it also made me think. when i was out hunting today i noticed that everything was dried out and i also couldn't find any pins. it's dipped below freezing here the last two nights because of this gorgeous weather...could it be the end, or nearing the end?

One thing I have realized about mushroom hunting is don't try to predict mother nature. The season could end next week, or it could end in March. Let's keep hunting and let things take their course.

Stymee, No season ever ends in march. However, lawn blyue ringers can grow all year long if there is no freeze.
Mj. The cyans are y usually gone by thhe end of December. A few might pop up in Jan but usually int he first few weeks.
mj. Than Feb through April or so the Oregon Panaeolus subbalteatus grow and Concocybe cyanops appears oin March and April along streams and riverp banks in sphagum moss.

I was picking Cyans last season throughout Feb. and I remember someone posting they had picked into March. It is unusual but that doesn't mean it isn't unheard of.

yep, I picked my last cyans of last season on march 20 , I remember because it was the last day of winter and I found my first morels of the year a couple days later. Things slowed down a lot after about mid-january, but they were still around in a few reliable patches. DH

Last march I posted I had picked P. stuntzii. IT is very rare for them to go past the first few weeks of january. ANd maybe only one or two would find them.
As for the comment about the fereeze, generally a three day freeze will kill all the greowth for the year except what was still pinning a month and a half ago. The crops which are popping up here are not what they would have normally been if not for the freeze and the lack of rain during the early fall months. The crops that are coming up are small and few compared to a normal year.

Mr Shroomer, I am just curious to know how many different strains of cys are there. Some are big when they are mature. Some are small when they are mature. Some are somewhere in the middle. Some curl way upwards to release the spores touching the ends in like the center while others just kinda fan out to release the spores. Would it just depend on the weather? What and how do people classify the different subtilies of the different kinds of cys if there are? One grows in grass and one grows in wood chips? Is there apreference on the amount of psylibin in the different types? I dont know why but I like the really small woodchips ones not over an inch and bout the size of a nickel or quarter when mature vs. the larger grasslands ones.

basically athere are two variations. one is the bow-Tie witht he nobby caps. All are P. cyanescens. there are just many shapes the caps can take and colors and characteristics all belong top Psilocybe.
There are even wavy-capped P. cubes grown in vito.
But cyanescens are one species.
