Dec 19 Seattle Cyans

Was at a Seattle park today not finding much other than a few Cyans mixed in with a large patch of Galerinas:

The dry weather has been a little hard on them but it was sprinkling again so hopefully the mushrooms which have been drying out will come back with the rain.
I ran into an older fellow taking pictures of a group of large mushrooms and we talked for awhile. He told me they were Stropharia and that you could tell by the gill colors, I mentioned the gill colors also resemble psilocybes and that sort of killed the conversation, guess he wasn't too interested. So as I was leaving the area I noticed a nice government building across the street and decided to take a little stroll around it and ran into these:

nice, I just found some cyans today also. My first find!

If it's your first find, definately post pics. You'll want 100% conformation with these, it's just too easy to make mistakes with something very serious.

your "galerenas" look like deceivers, take a print, if white, deceivers (Laccaria laccata) if rusty, galerena.
you could be right tho, its just the gills on that upturned one could go either way.
awesome harests tho, i cant wait to move out west.

Yeah wasnt going eat any before ID hehe. I have my hopes up though, they look and sound just like them and are growing on woodchips in some grass, but they could easily be galerina to my noobie eye.

Wednesday after finals I didnt go to work and looked all over the city and didnt find but about 30 cys. I went to a popular spot that afternoon and found that I was late only white spewed all over the ground. Someone just got them earlier. I couldnt resist and had to collect small pieces of the white spew. I left it in the car overnight and it started to grow. I took part of it to a park closer to my house to see what would happen. Another part on my way I noticed a yard that I looked for them every year but never found them. I thought I would give it some spew. To my suprise it had its own thing happening. So I gave it a little spew so it could mate and be happy. I was well rewarded for my deeds. But tonight I think I overedid it a bit taking bout 30 of em an makin tea.

I see too many patches in Seattle raked by greedy hunters.

You could very well be right, I guess I don't spend too much time ID'ng LBM's when I have cyans right there :wink:
