I used a similar pod like device about a year ago...no bitches...It works fine. But only 5 Half pints at a time??? Come on I'm too impatient for that. I am in the process of building my own version with the same principal but it will hold about 20-30 cakes. I will post a grow log in the pics forum. I guess my only question is that I am using a semi transparent rubbermaid container (90% see through) and the top is flat. I am expecting a little "rain" on the cakes. Does anyone out there anticipate this as being a major prob? I have been off the forum for a while...and I have seen some others making their own...maybe already answered...so point me to the posts please....Thanks in advance

the rain or condensation isn't a problem in my opinion but i think that a clear container could possibly cause problems. cover the sides or go w/ a container that has solid sides. lg. dark rubbermaids w/ a hole cut in the lid replaced w/ plexi-glass work well.

Thanks...and oh my god....I have bought that SAME container...even using the same bubble rods...his top looks non transparent, mine has the lid out of the same material as the sides

In my understanding of the process...the clear container shouldn't be a prob as it is a fruiting chamber only. The jars are kept in the dark until birthed. Once birthed, the light source is on/off in 12 hour cycles. My light is directly overhead.

my pod is clear plastic on all sides with an over head fluro,i have no problems with it.ie all my shrooms grow straight,if that matters.

Condensation occurs when there's a big temp difference between inside and outside the pod. For some reason, I realized that it's always a little hotter inside the pod than in the room.

Once I had some major condensation on the inside of the lid surface and notice it was quite cold in my room (around 62F). I started to heat a little bit at 70F and now no more condensation.

I think you knew that anyway..

Thank you fish , my friend was worried that he did not have enough moisture as there was no condensation , but he is using ambient tempature in his pod . He really appreciated this information .
