Op: your car does have a transmission, not a transaxle.
Any car with a turbocharger has a muffler bearing.

I hate working on cars why i always make sure to always have a friend who's a car guy. I can do the basics but anything else i can usually get fixed for the cost of the part, a case of beer, and som food. But yes i do know your car has a transmission.

front wheel drive cars have more of a transaxle then a transmission, at least that's how i understand it.

You don't have one "more" of either one.
It's just simple terminology used in auto tech.
All a transaxle is, is a transmission that is housed together with a differential. The differential is what drives the wheel so when you have a FWD car, it's housed in the same location since everything the powers the car has to be up front.
Same thing goes for cars like Porsches that have rear mounted motors and a "transaxle". Where everything has to be in the back.
Anyways, my point was that OP's friend saying that OP didn't have a tranny is just not correct. I'm almost sure the friend didn't have the slightest clue about what he was talking about.

Its a transmission... did you read any of enlils link? The list all RWD (RR or FR) and AWD no FWD.

My link doesn't have a list of all vehicles with transaxles. OPs car has a transaxle. It is a transverse mounted engine with front wheel drive.
Contrary to what Amanita said, changing the clutch on a vehicle like yours is more work than on a front-engine RWD vehicle. To remove the transaxle, one has to pop the ball joints to remove the axles, whereas in a RWD, it's a simple matter of dropping a driveline.

When did "popping" ball joints become difficult Enlil?

It's not, but it does require the front of the car to be lifted off of the wheels for the duration of the work, whereas a RWD tranny can be pulled on ramps. Also, there are two axles to be removed whereas a RWD has one driveline. Finally, there is a whole lot less space to work in a transverse setup.
No one said that it was difficult either way, but it's much easier to change the clutch on a front-engine RWD than a transverse mounted FWD

Well we are doing this in a bay and not a gravel driveway out in the sticks right? I don't know about you but I don't climb under cars.

I don't assume he's doing it in a bay. If you don't climb under cars, you're pretty much useless to this discussion, though.

I'd recommend a bay, so you can walk under it. And have proper supports. That's probably not useless info is it?

It's not useless info, but it is obvious info.
I've never known a mechanic, professional or amateur who doesn't crawl under cars. If you don't, it pretty much means you have very limited knowledge and experience.

He's actually correct. You don't have a transmission. You have a transaxle which is what they call a transmission and differential in one unit.
Scroll down on your wiki link page and you see the list of transaxle vehicles and not one is a FF.
Now look at this.. the word transmission is used in all of these definitions.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Transaxle And here http://www.thefreedictionary.com/transaxle And here http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/transaxle
I still say its a transmission.

WHO THE FUCK CARES? Yes, when the transmission and diff are in the same housing it's technically called a transaxle, but if you say transmission people will know what you're talking about. It's like a hydromorphone dependent person saying they have an opiate problem; you know what they're talking about. Then hand-on-hips hipster goes "Actually you have an opioid problem since there's no h-m in papaver somniferum. You do'nt even know what class ov drugs you're taking grrrr". Dude's gonna sound like a condescending douche.
An 80s Honda accord was the very first manual transmission car i drove interestingly enough. Yours would'nt happen to be that goldish color with a brown interior would it?

Even mechanics with access to a bay occasionally crawl under a car. You don't, however, which tells me that you have very limited experience...perhaps in some high school auto shop.
