colonizing question
    #2192473 - 12/20/03 06:24 AM (20 years, 3 months ago)

I observe that some of my millet jars are colonizing only from upstairs (Tube in tube incubator)why?
The heating from downstairs and drying out or the air circulation in the jars(because grains near the (loose) lid are colonizing..?
Thanks if you have any ideas though I haven't got any pics sorry:(

Some times the base of the inner tub can heat up more than the air temp.
This is why i place a 1" thick sheet of polystyreen (sp?) in the base of
mine, this seems to help in evening out the heat in the incubator.

Others use towels or other things as an isulator. Try this and see if you get any change.

there only drying out as there being bottom heated. You can try to place them in a cuboard or some were with a stable temp, so that the moisture content can
drift down into the dryer bottoms. This should help a bit. But as is the case with bottom heat, and top filters, some of the moisture might have already leeched from the jars. Hope this isnt the case too much, and that dealing with the bottom heat will be enougth to save them.

shake dem grainz bozz.disperse the myc that is growing and watch the jars take off after a day or two.
the reason some jars are only colonising near the top is because thats as far as the injected spore solution made it into the millet.
shake your jars(bang them on a tyre or carpet etc if they are caked)at 5% colonisation then repeat at around 40-50% colonisation.
