I can't recommend it highly enough, and I'm only halfway through it. A lot of it is about dreams and the subconscious. (jung calls it the unconscious though) He makes dreams seem like an incredibly important part of our psyche, and also gives you useful information on how to interpret your dreams.
He also uses his knowledge of dream symbolism to make sense of ancient mythology, ancient symbols, fairy tales, and other seemingly nonsensical parts of our culture. This aspect I found particularly interesting, as it seems that ancient man knew more about his mind than we do today
After reading this I'm definitely quitting weed. I want to dream again http://www.amazon.com/Man-Symbols-Carl-Gustav-Jung/dp/0440351839
First book in a long time that I've actually had trouble putting down. Its only six bucks people.

Dude, I only pay about 50 cents for books these days. Digital copies (unauthorized copies) that I read on an e-reader. Anything beyond 50 cents will start to put a hole in your wallet rather quickly. And I can get most books like this.

Yeah I enjoy cheating the system this way too. Not very fond of reading books on a laptop though.
Why pay 50 cents when you can torrent it?

Oh my god, because you can't torrent it. I'm a member of a crowdfunding piracy website. You can't just expect a website to have a great selection without that website being funded somehow. The website I use has a phenomenal selection and they used to promptly fulfill requests (i.e. you would request a book that was available in digital form on Amazon and they would simply buy it and you could then buy it for 50 cents). They had to tone down the requests thing... But I got like like 17 requests fulfilled, including a book that was like 60 dollars (which I only paid like 3 dollars for).

Um, a regular computer, yeah, but not an e-reader (which I posted a picture of above). E-readers are more convenient to hold because they don't have the gatefold design of books and you can change the text size and you can easily take tons of books with you anywhere you go and never worry about losing them as you can back them up.
Also, you can print digital books out. Because they're cracked copies of the books so you can make as many copies as you want or print the whole damn thing out. So yeah...

i'd rather just buy a nicely done book from a publisher. why would i want some photocopy paper bound text-y font piece of shit book, when i can get one professionally made.
and i like reading between two pages, and flipping the page, and being able to go back and forth between sections. it's easier to put a bookmark in a book, than fumble with button's and selection's and then having to scroll through menu's and having to scroll from one page to the next down, and have the jumbled type set.

I've made my points.
Why do you have a problem with this type of device?

just look at the picture. the type set is blatantly scattershot which makes not only for a more lackadaisical reading focus, but also the lettering just looks awful on the "page".

Yeah e-ink displays are awesome, looks just like a printed page. I have a Kobo Touch that was something like $30 refurbished.

excuse me for thinking you meant a program for reading certain file types on the computer.

@rbalzer
this is the biggest plus for e-readers IMO: The fact that you can change the font size.

yeah, i'm not talking about the font, genius. i'm talking about the lettering and type set. whether you can change the size or not, the font or not, it's always going to be jumbled mess because it isn't done to exact specifications; it's just text, it's not a nice type face either cause internet type looks shitty on the page. not to mention you have to do all the adjusting yourself.
it doesn't look as good, it's not as readable, and it's a single page per page endeavor. plus it's just nicer to have a proper bound book with nice paper, proper lettering, ect ect, things that make it a much more readable and intimate experience.

I'd be interested to get a pared-down laptop with an e-ink display if there was such a thing. The slow refresh rate would limit its utility a lot but the battery life would be killer.

I have that book but never given it a shot. Today will be the day I finally do. I like some of Jung's other stuff, pretty out there stuff for his time.

No idea what you're talking about.

Not practical for a lot of people. Do you at least respect the e-reader method for technical books? Like someone in college who loads up his studying materials on it? And you know what? The note taking features of e-readers is far superior to traditional post-it notes. That's one of the best features of digital books. Highly useful for studying. Well I'm not saying that a person wouldn't prefer a physical textbook and post-it notes, but the ability to just stream through a book, digitally tagging things that you need to refer to later is much faster than post-it notes. And you can perform such a task while lying down; can't do that when working with post-it notes.
