Variegated pup ? * 1
    #21923731 - 07/10/15 09:16 AM (8 years, 6 months ago)

When I grafted the seedling, it was showing some discoloration. But right after the graft had taken, the seedling took a green colour so I was a bit disapointed.
But The scion threw an early pup that is completely yellow

What do you think ?

Looks good, but the whole lot needs a little more growing to be sure. At this stage, things are moving too fast inside the plant to be sure of anything.

Would be amazing to have a caespistosa partially variegated on own roots :crazy2:
But I still don't know the specie. For the moment it's just a loph. (a bit weird)

Yeah I agree a little to early to tell.

I don't mean to hijack your thread OP but I'm curious if anyone knows when/how/why plants express their variegation? To clarify I have a small 1 foot trich seedling graft that's partially variegated, I removed a pup off the bottom and grafted it to a larger root stock. The mother plant still grows slightly variegated but the pup has yet to show any sign of variegation. Would anyone know why? The pup has taken off and grown a lot in probably 3 months ( Size of a kidney bean to the size of a pickle )

Thanks for any help:sunny:

Not all cuttings will be variegated. It is luck of the draw. The mother plant can and will put off variegated pups, but not everyone will be. Also, it could show at a later time. Ive got a pachanoi monstrosis that only showed monstrose tendencies for about 6 inches.

Little update. The pup is still yellow. No signs of green.

(I think that grafting these scions like this was a mistake. They will end pushing against each other. I'll have to root one separately.)
