My job sucks balls, and I want to quit, but then I lose unemployment benefits.
Any ideas on how to get dismissed for the right reasons?

Pretty much it has to be due to something like lay-offs because the company is down sizing, and things similiar to that. You can't get "fired" and get them. Basically its supposed to be things that are out of your control, but not related to your job performance.
Also, the company can and most likely will contest your application for benefits if you did get fired. They do get contacted when you file and have to explain their side of the story. I work in IT and have since about 96, when the dot com boom exploded into a massive pile of dead economy I had to get unemployment benefits. Over the years since I took mostly contracts I've had to use it a few times at the end of a contract or if layoffs occurd. I have even manaaged to file when I got 'fired' but the staffing agency just put it as a contract 'ending' so it wasnt a big deal. One place I worked though let me go for calling out sick, and they claimed I was 'sleeping during a meeting'. I had to contest it and so did they and it was a big ass mess to get situated. In the end I lost because I didn't have a doctors note to proove I was ill and it was my word vs theres.
This URL has some good info about benefits coming from the side of the employer.

I think eligibility varies state to state. in my state you have to be fired due to no fault of your own, or because of circumstances beyond your control. when you file the employer has the right to appeal the claim, then a date will be set where you can plea your case. if you can show that you got fired over some bullshit and not because you were a bad worker or broke some rule, then you will get your benefits. but you must also submit at least 3 job applications per week. and if you want to turn it into an extended vacation all you have to do is apply for jobs that you know you aren't qualified for or places that aren't hiring.
or just do the right thing and look for another job while you work at this place you hate. then once the new job is secured, quit

so basically just go in and fuck up real bad and cause enough property damage that they will fire you. but make sure it looks like an honest mistake
