Awesome. Would a microscope be useful or even practical for identifying possible contaminations on agar? Ive heard it wouldnt.

Look what I got in the mail today. All because of your Pour Agar Tek. :congrats:

I'm so pleased you recommended these Pyrex media bottles. The marketing literature states that they can be used for storage as well as mixing and sampling. They include a one-piece autoclavable orange polypropylene plug seal GL45 threaded cap with a drip-free pouring ring.

I've used a sleeve of dishes to practice pouring. So far so good. I will be pouring my first plates in the near future.

Its also going to be my first time using my new AA921.

I've taken a picture of the broken pressure regulator gauge and will be contacting the company as the PC was never used. The styrofoam packing surrounding the gauge was cracked.

I will not use the PC until I get a reply from the company. The gauge itself is $20.00 on Amazon.

However, don't want to pony up the money for a new one because I did not damage the gauge.

Hopefully, the company will eat the cost and send me a new one. Good eye Juiceh.

If they tell you to piss off, a new guage can be had a little cheaper:

It's less about the bottle, there's 100s you could use. I do enough agar I got the bottle I like. Making a filter lid is unnecessary though

I just want to add it's important to filter any solids out of your agar if you're using very short sterilization times. Those times are meant for liquids only. Heat is transfered through solids by conduction so if you have little undissolved chunks of something the center of the chunks are going take a little longer to heat up than the liquid they're in.

Yes, the cap is on(like a half turn loose) when sterilized.
