for the brf agar i saw that you boil the water and just pour it into the bottle with the agar agar and brf.
is the procedure any different for no pour plates?

This is my first post, so take it for granted that I’m retarded. I’ve read the TEK & all 21 pages & don’t see any conversation relating to the preferred size of the inoculating loop. Does size matter?

Thx, Bod. I’m completely new to this, but have spent dozens of hours over the past month researching technique & approach & have settled on taking your agar, oat spawn & monotub approach as my first rodeo. Currently have 10q oat spawn one week into inoculation (having sterilized in my new Presto 23q pc & inoculated in my SAB of your design). Being new, I have high hopes, & measured expectations. I am documenting photographically along the way & will post something as soon as I have anything to show. Wanted to thank you for the time you have devoted to this hobby & to this forum. Without knowledgeable people being willing to teach, the learning curve on this sort of thing would be insurmountable to most (myself included). Thanks again!

Yo bod I was nuking a bottle minute ago and had a nice bubble pop in the agar. A small amount of agar came between the threads and spilled down the bottle.
Fucked or Naw?

So for the 400ml that you make in the agar bottle, you'd use 8g each of agar agar and BRF? Thank you.

I just did my first spore print streak plate. As i was gathering spores from the print into the dish i had chunks fall out(extreme amount of spores in dish). Will i just get a lot of germination or is to many spores in 1 plate an issue?

the more spores the greater the chance of a contam and the more genetics, that's all

Anyone experience colored agar returning to normal color after pc cycle? I'd love to have some colored plates but it keeps happening. Probably the brand of food color. I wonder if there is some lab grade dye I could use?

Yeah, fair enough to be honest. Also for anyone else reading this, I'm finding I can pour it much cooler than the literature says to. According to Google it solidifies between 32 and 40c. I'm getting mad condensation even down to around 42c and it isn't solidifying until... Below 34c according to my infrared thermometer. I'm guessing the actual liquid is warmer than the outside of the media bottle and that is why the temps seem off. Get lowwwww...
