 Except rip open instead of cut open, the blade can drag contaminants in.
Invitro plate pins make good clones too but generally this is how its done.

i am confused about the brf agar recipe
how much brf am i using per/1000ml
how much agar-agar am i using per/1000ml
is this with distilled water or spring water
also i plan on pre pouring in half pint glass dishes
how long would i pressure cook for?
how many ml per dish?

i use tap water at 20 grams agar per liter. don't know about brf because i've never used it. MEA for me baby. at 20 to 30 grams per liter.

brf agar kicks ass
12g brf per liter 18g-20g agar per liter
i just use tap water. ive used distilled,spring, mineral notice no difference

how many ml's of brf agar go into a pasty plate?
I am using half pint glass jars but they appear to be about the same volume

I do 8g brf and 10g agar for 500ml.

two questions. first if you have spore prints do you need to add them to water before making a streak plate? or will dry spore prints be preferable? second. what should be the environment for the plates during germination? lights,darkness,temps?

No, just wipe the print with a loop or sterilised swab and then wipe the agar
Room temp~ 70, Lights dont really matter

I was pouring plates using my wide mouth quart jar as a vessel....fucking spilled hot agar everywhere hahaha got so mad cuz i lost it alI!! let it cool and peeled it up like a pancake lol,,,,, reminded me about getting one of these sexy Pyrex bottles from this tek,,,, can't wait to have nice things

That's a good price on the reguar 500ml ones let alone the slim style. I want to try them but no real reason to waste money on em i got a bunch of regular shape media bottles anyway

when i was new to a2g, i wouldnt shake because i wanted to see where my contams may be coming from. after i was certain and around 30% colonized id shake em up and another week or so they are good 2 go.

Ok so after I grew some plates I realized I have no fucking idea what I'm doing ha. Here are 4 plates I transferred from I couldn't get a good picture unless it was open.
 I followed another Tek and cut pieces from what I thought was good.
