bodhisatta said: you can prepare multiple bottles of agar, use a foil cap during sterilization for added precaution. Then put the spare bottles in the fridge. re melt in a microwave when you want to use them. you can consolidate agar if you have a marginal amount in a couple of your bottles, do it just like you would do a g2g transfer as long as you do it in your SAB or with a FH you won't contaminate your agar.

these are the stages of agar melt during microwave. I don't like to melt the agar on full blast, I do it in shorter intervals or with the power turned down.
I got a few of these media vessel bottles in 1000ml size. What size do you have pictured here?
I was thinking about mixing up and sterilizing a few bottles to store in the fridge to remelt when needed. But was wondering, do they actually need to be stored in a fridge if they are going to be remelted and used in a few weeks to a month?

I was just using an old full size 1/2 pint jar I got from when I bought premade jars.

Yup! I love the lip ring feature! Makes the pouring a breeze with no drips at all! You don't have to give the bottle a twist at the end of the pour to prevent that last drip that you would get with another vessel. When I first read about the lip ring, I didn't think it would make such a difference. But after using it, wow! These bottles are totally worth it.
Here's a pic that shows the lip on the pyrex jar:

Dude thank you,
They look so much easier to pour.
They are really easy to pour. I find the glass above the agar level feels cooler to the touch when pouring than the cuervo bottle I had been using. The cuervo bottle would drip after every pour unless I gave it a shake at the end of the pour to get that last drop onto the plate. I highly recommend the media bottles. Hell, I'm excited to get home tonight to pour some more plates with my new media bottles! I just received 11 cultures and I got some serious work to do. LoL!

Yup. Some people even use qt jars.
Pouring a few sleeves tonight. I got 12 more species to play with! Woo Wooooo! Media bottles.

I leave mine like 1/4 turn loose. Haven't tried it fully tight to be honest. I don't wanna blow up one of these jars. The only times I've busted jars are with plastic lids tightened down on mason jars for LC with the rubber gasket and minimal GE(watman filters). So, I'm hesitant to tighten these down fully even though they are much higher quality than mason jars. Unless someone has repeatedly with no issues.
2000ml is UUUGE! That may be a bit cumbersome to pour. The 1000ml bottles are about as big as I would wanna go, I think. But I haven't handled a 2000ml jar to know. Do let us know how it works out.

Then I don't think you will have a problem! You're gonna be able to pour a at least 40 dishes with that thing in one go, and it will only be filled halfway. You probably have more than enough headroom to do 1500ml of agar and 60 dishes!
The only downside to the 1000ml and up media bottles is they don't fit easily in microwaves unless you have a way to keep them tilted to fit the microwave. But, I have a couple smaller media bottles that I can store presterilized agar in so I can have some on reserve and not be caught with my pants down when a primo cloning opportunity pops up. I also try to keep at least a half sleeve or so of poured dishes on tap just in case.

Holy crap! Looks like there wasn't a lot of room between the PC lid and bottle cap.

Sorta thinking about trying one of theses glass jugs. 64oz and has a nice grip area. It will probably drip after every pour though.

Last week I ran 2 media bottles of MEA and GWA. I totally forgot to loosen the caps after screwing them on tight and swirling the powdered ingredients into the hot water. The bottles and caps had no issues surviving a 25 min 20psi run this way. If you do this though, loosen the caps slowly in front of your hood. The agar will be bubbling under vacuum a little and they will suck in air to equalize the pressure and boil up a bit, so loosen and tighten until the agar settles and repeat until it doesn't bubble up anymore. Oddly the MEA took about 5-6 loosen and tightening of the cap to equalize while the GWA was equalized in 2 tries. Dunno if that means anything at all.
