Roaming them Michigander Woods
    #21921579 - 07/09/15 07:50 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Hey there folks! Northmen back again with an other ID request, Now today I took a break from walking through my field of horse dookie and decided to walk the woods behind my place. Found a couple of mushrooms and am wondering what they are and if any of them are active.

They are all amanitas and that is a genus not to take risks with. It's possible that the first one is a. vaginata or something similar, but I wouldn't bet on it. The last one looks like a. amerirubescens, which is toxic when eaten raw, but apparently edible when cooked. However, none of the species you have is psychedelic, and none of them are considered particularly interesting from a culinary viewpoint. Combine that with the fact that some of the most lethal fungi are in the amanita genus (particularly the yellow one should NOT be consumed), I would recommend leaving them for what they are.
