How did u get into clubbing/raving?
    #21918381 - 07/09/15 08:10 AM (8 years, 6 months ago)

For me it was first year in university - year 2000... i been to student union parties few times but nothing real... i was fortunate that one of my flat mates in the halls was from Leeds and he was a major clubber... one day i was listening some trance in my room and my door was open slightly he knocked and we started talking about dance music. He told me about Gatecrasher in Sheffield and how he used to visit it. For those who dont know Gatecrasher is a raving heart of the planet. Best dance night club that flourished from 97 - 2002. So he got me curious. Next week me and me mate buy train tickets to sheffield... we arrive, have a meal at pizza hut, then hit the bar, got liqueured up and headed towards the club. I will never forget the lights and the club building itself as we approached it, it was like we were on another planet.

The night was fantastic. Best music i ever heard, best looking clubbers, best sound system... it was a real eye opener. From then on i was a regular at the club, taking bus and train trips there almost every weekend.

In college, I used to hang out in my girlfriend's dorm with her roommate and a couple others. We were all into drugs. One of them got us doing x and going to the local raves. I started going regularly for the scene people and the drugs. Eventually, I started to dig the music. I was at a 3 day show in Indiana called Yesfest I think. Richard Humpty Vission closed one night and everybody was on acid and mdma. The whole crowd was bumpin' outside at a ski resort in summer to Get Get Down by Paul Johnson. I was hooked.

Cool bro

Its a shame Gatecrasher died after 2002

I started going clubbing in Amsterdam after that, and then Australia after that

I was listening to hard trance before I was 18, so for me I just couldn't wait to go to a rave or a good club.

I grew up about 2 hours from Melbourne. The first thing I went to was a big indoor rave for my 18th birthday in Melbourne. From then on I would travel down to Melbourne every week and go to various nightclubs.

I had not even experienced a pub/bar or a 'normal' nightclub until I was at least 19.

Man, I miss the days of being all fucked up on MDMA talking to random people for hours on a couch in a dark dingy club.

Promoter was a good friend of mine.

He gave me a exclusive Gatecrasher poster, for free.

I dance... set the poster roll aside against a wall for a minute... fucking chavs show up and take my poster... coudlnt find any bouncers... the only way to get it back was to fight those fuckers, which i didnt... fuckign tossers

Wow I didn't think there would have been anything like that in Byron. Even Sydney was pretty shit for the rave scene in my experience. Melbourne was fucking crazy for it back then. Bass Station, Bubble, Hard Kandy, PHD, Krankin. Running around the city like it was a fucking playground spending my whole weeks pay on drugs. Sounds really bad and it is, but it was also really good :awesome:

I went to Plastic once in Sydney, and it was some little fucking Joint with pokies in it. I can't remember if that was where Bexta or Amber Savage was resident but it was terrible. I also went to Sublime in Sydney witch was too big and clean looking for me. I liked dark dirty clubs.

Man those days were fun.

I was lucky enough to come out of those days with only one criminal charge. I think it would be a lot riskier doing that shit these days.

I'll give you a hint. I'm dancing in front of a big sign that says REDLINE. I was payed in MDMA by the documentary makers. Haha.

Hey Artnotwar

Did u ever dress up for nights out??

In Gatecrasher most people designed their own clothe which shows how dedicated we were

I usually wore yellow UV pants and yellow UV tank top with Gatecrasher logo on my back in blue. THEN we spiked our hair... now this is a bitch to explaine, spiked hair... wtf is that?  Long ugly spikes at random on your head ? NO NO NO it was fucking stylish... very accurate smallish spiked hair in tidy rows with UV paint on the tips, fucking EPIC i tell u, really Beautiful to behold. That was trance. For hard house, we had different outfit... i spent like a month making mine:  Purple furry boots, purple and white furry skirt and a short tank top, i looked dope, fucking amazing outfit, when ppl saw me they just wanted to take pictures :awesome:
