My cat

I'm gonna keep this short but have any of you had a pet get wounded? My cat apparently got in a fight with another animal and got bit on the base of her tail last thursday and at first I thought she got clipped by a car no open wounds, her tail was just tender to the touch. So sunday I found a punctire/rake wound on her tail so I flushed it with saline and peroxide and applied neosporin should I take her to a vet it does not seem to be causing her distress or pain but I re- dressed it tonight and it don't look good.

Yeah, if I were in your situation, I would take her to the vet. Cats actually harbor a lot of bacteria in their mouths and claws. I was just bitten the other day by a feral kitten and you wouldn't believe how big of an ordeal that turned out to be. Anyway, long story short, puncture woulds are the worst because the top layer of skin heals up faster than the underlying layers, trapping the bacteria and allowing them to multiply. And if it's not looking good, her body is probably having a hard time fighting off the infection/

If it looks infected, take the cat to a vet and have them clean the wounds and give it a shot of antibiotics. Pretty standard operating procedure, will take 10 minutes and won't cost an arm and a leg. The alternative is to wait and see, which will most likely turn out fine, but there is a small chance of sepsis and that means end-of-cat.

Well, everyone, every cat, and every bite is different. I would be cautious though if your cat bites you hard enough to break the skin. Just google "cat bites"

This.

She'll most likely be fine, but take her to the vet if your worried.
If you're still unsure about what to do, post a pic of the wound for us.

My dog has been hurt in fights and has hurt other dogs (my dog is a bitch, insists on being alpha). No problems have ever arisen so far.
