How long can you safely PC whole oats?

I was a little irresponsible last night and fell asleep waiting on my second PC run of the night (dangerous, I know). I had 4 jars of whole oats in my pressure cooker at 15 psi, and they were left in there for about 3 hours. They are not clumped together or anything, but compared to my other jars done before that PC'd at 15 psi for 90 mins, their hulls are noticeably darker. Can these jars still be used? Are they just extra sterile or could this pose a problem?

If they aren't clumped and you didn't run the PC dry and dry the grains they will be fine. Even if they are a little dry they will be fine.

Same shit happened to me last time. I forgot about the pressure cooker and did not think about it before some burned smell gave me a reminder. The PC was out of water and the Glass jars were broken, also some of the oats were black.
Thing is; I put the oats in new jars, and Pressure cooked them again (90min). The spawn worked great, must have got about 2,5 + 1,5 hours... You should be fine

Pretty hard to burst oats. In fact to hydrate them I do a rolling boil and they don't burst at all. Also they hold so much water. Pretty hard to dry them out too. Might be different with any other grain.

Don't be too hard on yourself....lol. Couple weeks ago I did the same thing, except I ruined my PC. For some miraculous reason I took it back to a store that sells the same brand and models and they replaced it! The dude didn't seem to know much about and I told him the safety plug didn't release the steam and it burned up my "food". Very obvious he knew nothing about them. It boiled dry and warped the fuck out of the lid.
I am STILL in utter disbelief they replaced it, especially having no box or receipt.
There is a new store manager at the location, and not only did he replace the PC, he gave me a larger capacity one.... I believe the original was only 16qt....
Now I am going to do some extra nice deeds for others as the mushroom gods where looking out that day!!
This good luck would probably never happen again in a million years...
