HELP PLEASE
    #2191229 - 12/19/03 08:12 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

ok my problem is i have no areas that are 100% sterile in my reach.. so what i was thinking is this.. if i were to place a wallunit in a semi-sterile room and inside the wallunit there would be enough space to fit my incubation system and whatever else i would need for the grow process.. now the chamber inside the wallunit has hinged doors to open and close the chamber.. now some outside air would be able to get in and out through the outline of the doors where there are cracks about 1/2 a centimeter.. is there any way i could work with this? i was thinking about using an alpine air purifier but im not sure if that would be the best idea.. does anyone have any ideas on what i can do i really dont have many options at all

my foaf has never been 100% sterile and has had great success...an option is to go to like a rubbermaid vinyl closet...the martha stewart collection from kmart makes a similer type peice as well..they work great.

I agree... unless you have a lab with a sealed type of sterile air circulation system, your never going to be 100% sterile... I've used hepa filters and lysol and shit like that before, but have found that it causes more problems than it helps... Just dont go sneezin on shit, and remember to wash your hands, and you'll be fine

all I ever do is spray the air with lysol wash my hands and anything I'm working with(Including syringes) with rubbing alcohol and wear a drywall mask...and I've had great success

Any room will work for fruiting/ incubation and whatnot.

The only time you need to be sterile is when doing inoculations & transfers and while printing. Consider making a glovebox if you have constant contam problems in these areas.

Believe me; we don't all have labs or anything close.

Change your furnace filter once a month. They are cheap..

Change all trash cans in the home every day and the kitchen trash can twice a day. Do not put a trash can in the grow room at all and remove all cuttings at once.

Remove all rotting food from the fridge etc, and never let ANYONE place a carved pumpkin in your house as it will mold and send spores all over the place! I once lost 4 casing this way.

Just keep the grow room clean and no allow no food whatsoever in it.

i agree with ben, i use a still air glovebox for making syringes, inoculating etc, then i place them in my 'tub ina tub' then case, incubate and move to my pod,i spray a bit of ISO around every now and then but in all reality my house is as filthy as fuck,my pod and incubator are in my bedroom wardrobe (only place thats safe from the rugrat) two of our dogs sleep in the same room each night and the odd glass of coke gets forgotten for a week and grows some funky ass mould, despite this i've had very little problems with contam,1 cake got cobweb(was trashed straight away) and my first ever casing got cobweb due to unsterilised casing media being used (i beat the cobweb with peroxide and always PC'd my casing media from then on).
