It's a prescription. Though it's a benzo and you know how doctors are with prescribing those. I went through a lot of meds that didn't work before he'd put me on it. I was on Ambien for awhile but.. lol.. Yeah I had to get off that shit.
I don't really see anything recreational in it and I was a heavy abuser of Xanax. I really like benzos, but this has 0 euphoria. It just makes me sleepy.

You drink it every night, that's your problem.
I'm talking about drinking two beers. I drink alcohol maybe once a month, if that. And it's usually 2-3 beers. It always conks me the fuck out.

I pretty much NEVER wake up in the middle of the night, unless I'm profusely sweating and wake up because the sheets are drenched in sweat and I get all cold and have to flip them.
When I'm out... I am OUT... until I wake up. Pretty much nothing wakes me up.. except for high pitched shrill noises.... I've slept through earthquakes.

Word Ill keep that in mind. Ive noticed the same for ativan Im on (for a different reason) that any recreational value would take half a bottle, but 2 before sleep lays me out real nice and I dont sleep through the alarm or have a hangover.
I'll see what the doc has to say about what you're taking.

Yeah, I would. But people react differently to medication. It works for me and almost nothing does. Not without some horrible side effect. My only other 2 options are Trazadone which makes me sick as hell, completely stops my sinuses up, and I'll spend the entire day feeling groggy and out of it or Ambien which just makes me crazy and do all kinds of shit I normally wouldn't do.
Spent my whole life with insomnia and am pretty desperate for sleep these days. If you can get by without getting addicted to a benzo I would say do it, but I'd rather be addicted then continue on with the sleep patterns I have normally.

Yeah benzos to sleep is a bad habit to get into... but if it's either that or worse options or no sleep.. benzos sounds like a plan.

Usually an hour, but if I wake up for anything, bathroom, etc. during the night, I feel blessed if I can get back to sleep.

I don't think it's supposed to take more than 15 minutes -- and if I'm really tired, it doesn't.
But yeah, I usually play mind games (and by mind games, I mean my inner dialogue doesn't shut the fuck up) which leave me up for at least a half hour.
I used to take stuff to help me sleep - I've tried everything from natural herbs to scheduled drugs - but have found that heavy doses of physical activity is the way to go (at least for me). Plus, I didn't like feeling dependent on a pill to function properly.
I still only average about 6-7 hours a night, but that's definitely better than the 3-4 I was getting.
No sleep = shit brain (ime). Might as well be on autopilot.

I used to have a lot of trouble getting to sleep when I was younger
Not so much anymore
I appreciate my sleep a bit more now since I used to abuse meth and regularly stay up for days on end my sleep patterns were all fucked up

It used to take me a long time - but i've gotten alot better these days.
I've got some hints:
- Wax ear plugs (available at pharmacy) - a Mask (or no light pollution) - 4-7-8 breathing exercise
I was/am a fitful and light sleeper, always have been. I require the perfect atmosphere to fall asleep in or else will toss and turn while trying to fall asleep.
My ex's mom insisted that i try the wax earplugs and gave me a pair. I was surprised to find that they are super comfortable and warm up inside your ear. Closing off your ears not only blocks out outside distractions but allows you hear/feel your heart beat and it is very relaxing.
I am living in a house with too many windows and insufficient window coverings. Bad news, because i require absolute darkness in order to fall asleep. My mom gave me a purple satin eye mask with a ribbon on it. I am sure I look like a total fruit - but covering my eyes really does help me focus on falling asleep. Even if i don't wear it at night, i'll wake up when the sun comes up and put it on then in order to get another hour of sleep.
The 4-7-8 breathing exercise I just learned about inadvertently through a fitness forum. Here's a video about the technique. Basically you push your tongue on the tissue at the top of your mouth behind your teeth, inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds and exhale for 8. Do 3 repetitions and fall into relaxation. I find myself going through about 6 "reps" and it does slow down the heart and the mind - surprisingly it is very good stuff.

I actually use regular ear plugs and have a dark shade pulled across my windows, and even sleep with a pillow on my head to.cancel extra light.. But I'll definitely give those breathing techniques a try!

i sleep with a fan on me every night to drown out weird noises and to deal with any sweating. i heard cold temperatures promotes the sleep cycle, or maybe it just helps slow down your body processes, idk.

Think it slows down blood pressure and breathing.

The one time I tried chamomile tea (because I heard it can help you sleep), I drank two cups and literally got 0 hrs sleep that night, which is rare for me

I'm in the same boat. I take 1 mg klonopin for sleep each night. I recently stopped the kpins for about 3 weeks and even after 3 weeks I was getting zero sleep. I didn't go through withdrawals either. Anyway, I'm back on the kpins. I figure that benzo induced sleep is better than no sleep.

I wake up sometimes at 3 am and can't get back to sleep I've tried melatonin, nyquil, and weed but the only 2 things that ever worked consistently for me were 1 I had an old subliminal sleep tape that I would set on auto repeat. 2 I DLed some thunderstorm sounds and ocean wave sounds that I have set to loop. Bout the only thing that wakes me is when I get the sweats then get cold.
