Hey everyone, First Time Poster, Long Time Listener.
So, as a person gets bored, and has an extra syringe, well, you go searching. Which I did.
Background: Total Fucking Newbie. Started about 2.5 months ago, did the cakes, still flushing, but it wasn't.....enough. Started with 12 cakes, 9 made it, 2 are still actual cakes, and the remaining 4 have been crumpled into a nice plastic dish, and covered with Verm to keep percolating.
They are percolating in a bastardized monotob. Heck, I pulled a 15g one off the plastic dish last night. ANYWAY, not the point.
So, knowing what I know, I did Rye Berries next, which, are coming along JUST FINE, thank you very much. Did the knock up on those about 10 days ago. Being a newbie, I ordered a bit more than I thought I needed. Basically, an extra 10 CC syringe of Cambodian from Spore Depot.
But I had an extra syringe.
I also had generic oatmeal, a box of chicken flavored rice, and boredom. I may, or may not have, been slightly intoxicated.
I was not particularly sterile, as in, I didn't bother since I was pulling a box effing chicken rice out of the cupboard.
To make matter worse, I combined the chicken flavored rice (generic, store bought), oatmeal (generic, store bought), a couple of cups of water, into the roughly medium sized plastic tupperware, and finally popped it in the microwave for 10 minutes.....then into the freezer for about 2 hours to cool down.
Being, well, intoxicated, I pulled it out of the freezer, then took the lid off, and cut a square hole in it for some random sterile gauze pad I found laying around. I taped said gauze pad to the hole, but left the lid off.
Took that extra syringe and just squirted that stuff everywhere, 10 CC's here, there, over there, and over there. Slapped the lid on and figured "worst case scenario, I toss it." Isolated that box and then completely skipped protocol and looked at every day.
I even took the lid off to look inside. At this point, it has been 10 days, and it isn't dead or rotting, so meh, what the hell, going to see what happens.
Attached is a picture of the bottom of the thing 10 days later. It's the best to show what it is doing. Which is, ironically, working.
It's 10 days, I have basically ignored all sterile conditions, and I made it with off the shelf oatmeal and rice. Granted, this is an experiment, which will obviously be tossed, but I am way more impressed with this than the rye berries I am currently ignoring.
Before you ask, no, it's not sitting in any kind of tub, it's just in a cooler, under my desk, getting white.

Yeah, I got it. It is 100% isolated, completely in a different area than anything else. A complete experiment 100%.
And I get what you are saying, I would not believe it either......but it sure as heck looks like myc.
I'm going to just keep it tight in the cooler for another week and decide then, taking it outside the next time I open it, and straight into the burn barrel if it even remotely looks at me cross eyed.
