New guitar strings, finally
    #21910137 - 07/07/15 03:09 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

After playing my guitar with the strings that came with it for months I decided it was finally time for something new.

I had been playing a standard light gauge set of super slinky ernie ball strings for awhile, then when I got my new guitar awhile back it came with similiar strings.

So I just used the ones on it for months, I could have gone longer even as they sound fine but I decided I wanted to try something new.

I love jazz so heavier gauge sets always appeal to me, I had also been wanting to try halfwound strings out as I love flatwounds and regular sets.

So I went with these:

Just now putting them on right after finding them in my mailbox, already super excited though. I can tell they are a unique set already.

You know how it feels, With the breeze of the sun in your eyes. Not minding that time's passing by

I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me

I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

I love dem slinkies, fun stuff!

Why do you change your strings so much? I use to break strings semi often but now I basically never do.

So the only times I need to change strings is when I am switching it up which isn't too often.

I have had the same strings on all 4 of my guitars for months

I dunno but I find if I'm playing 10 hours or so a week i wreck strings in a month. But I don't take care of my strings, I don't keep my guitar in a case and I play with dirty hands.

I wish I was better at guitar than I am lol

I have noticed some ernie strings are pretty fragile. I tried out one set and literally had the same string break on me 3 times in a row as I strung it up...

But then I found their titanium strings which almost never broke for me. They did but it took awhile and usually was a friend playing who did it

I never keep my guitars in their cases really. I have an acoustic and an electric on hand lying around waiting for me than I keep my other acoustic n electric put away just so they are out of the way. Its funny becouse of course I keep my nicer ones out so they are easy to access and keep my cheap ones hidden in  their case. Pretty backwards.

Getting better at guitar is pretty much a never ending battle :tongue2: every time I reach a point I am happy with my playing I find some new crazy virtuoso.

Then I get motivated to improve more again.

Why not just wash your hands before playing? I hate playing with even just sweaty fingers.
