And I respect that. But when did you tell them. Was it at 5 years of age? You still have NOT answered the fucking question.
You know gosh damn well it wasnt when you were a fucking infant saying his first sentences
I think I was four? I'm not sure. I told them again and again and again throughout the years and they dismissed it every time. I lost count of all the times I had to come out and been dismissed a long, long time ago. It was when I was sixteen that I got into specifics and what I needed them to help me with but they still held out on me, "we're just not sure how you can be sure of something like that" blah blah blah, leaving me to suffer without help for over ten years. It fucking sucked, nobody should go through that shit.

What if its just mental illness. What if its like schizo back in the day and people thought there's no saving it so we should just kill them, and in this case there's no making there brain "normal" so lets just let them be "its".

Yeah, there were trans women in ancient rome but St. Augustine hated them and said that Christianity should get rid of them. Apparently 2000 years wasn't enough.

Transgender was neither a concept nor a term 25 years ago.

But it was a fact. There is a long tradition in may cultures of boys as girls. Thailand for one. They are traditionally accepted.

And thats the root of the issue isn't it sophist? you must be an ignorant non progressive close minded loser who won't kiss my feet because I'm "different"
What's with this attitude of yours of people either being with you or against you? Is it possible I simply don't give a shit, have sympathy, but don't "support" those who wish to engage in serious self mutilation?
I wish I was 6 ft tall. Doesn't mean I'm gonna blow out my knees and install new ones

It wasn't a word. Trans people existed nonetheless.

That's like saying that army veterans who contracted PTSD from experiences they had in Vietnam shouldn't be diagnosed or treated for PTSD because the diagnosis, "PTSD" did not exist during the time they went to war in Vietnam. It's narrow-minded not-quite-thinking that actually harms people.

Not my argument. I don't believe we had gender identity crisis going back 2000 years...

It was always a crisis but it was never a controversy until we stopped getting killed or forced to submit to cisgender norms through torture and ostracism.

Why do you think in the bible there was a Jewish law forbidding men or females from wearing the opposite sexes clothing?
This has gone on forever, some societies were probably more tolerant of it. Even Hindus believe we will all have a lifetime being born as a transgender.

It's worth noting that trans people exist in pretty much all societies. The west is actually fairly exceptional for denying their existence and actively pathologizing them and terrorizing and killing them for thousands of years without a break until the 60's or so.
Then some radical feminists decided they didn't like us and used their political strength at the time to set us back another 40 years in the 70's. This is some touch-and-go shit.

Burke Dennings said: I read this parenting forum (lol), and just today came across a story about a mother who started transitioning her (now 10 y.o.) bio son at the age of 6. Seemed pretty hardcore to me. I don't think I could do that to or for my son.
Maybe the next stage is hormonal blockers so they'll be kids as long as you like, maybe forever.
6? Fucked UP. Thats the parents wish, not the child's. At age 6 let them crossdress and play around but not hormones that force puberty.
But I knew then.
Allowing that only delayed things. You're right though but the science is in such early stages I can't help but be supportive.
No that's not what parents wish, no. If it is, that's fucked up

Nothing fucked up about wanting your kid to be happy and healthy later in life. That's actually normal, or at least I think it is... sometimes I wonder.

Parents wish, Moreso in line of: father wanted a daughter or mother wanted a son so they force change.
I do hope all parents think that that's a very selfless thought.
