You think that perceived deformities of the body according to the internal body map might have similar presentations? I'm curious as to how frequently BIID occurs at this magnitude of severity, with patients wanting to be amputated. Do you know?

i think the similarities in each of those cases may be superficial at best. there is a difference between having similarities and being similar. for example, i have blonde hair that is probably a color that's strikingly similar to certain breeds of horse's manes and tails. does that make me and horses of those breeds similar in any sort of deep sense of the term? on the other hand, horses and zebras and are biologically similar to the point to where they are taxonomically ranked under the same genus.

3.2. Severity of BIID On a 7 point scale, the average total test score "severity" is 4,6. The minimum is 1.5 and the maximum is 6.29, the variance is 1.16 (SD = 1.078 ). The classification of the severity of BIID is based on the calculated standard deviation (see Table 3). Using these classes, it is now possible to use the questionnaire in psychological and psychiatric practice, as well as for future studies. Due to the small sample size of n = 45, these are only preliminary normative data. The classification of the severity of BIID is shown in Table 4

Abstract: Objective: Body Integrity Identity Disorder (BIID) describes a phenomenon in which physically healthy people feel the constant desire for an impairment of their body. M. First [4] suggested to classify BIID as an identity disorder. The other main disorder in this respect is Gender Dysphoria. In th is paper these phenomena are compared. Method: A questionnaire survey with transsexuals (number of subjects, N=19) and BIID sufferers (N=24) measuring similarities and differences. Age and educational level of the subjects are predominantly matched. Results: No differences were found between BIID and G ender Dysphoria with respect to body image and body perception (U-test: p-value=.757), age of onset (p=.841), the imitation of the desired identity (p=.699 and p=.938), the etiology (p=.299) and intensity of desire (p=.989 and p=.224) as well as in relation to a high level of suffering and impaired quality of life (p=.066). Conclusion: There are many similarities between BIID and Gender Dysphoria, but the sample was too small to make general statements. The results, however, indicate that BIID can actually be classified as an identity disorder.

what difference does frequency make to the argument?

Quote:
Introduction
Body Integrity Identity Disorder (BIID) is a rare, infrequently studied and highly secretive condition in which there is a mismatch between the mental body image and the physical body. Subjects suffering from BIID have an intense desire to amputate a major limb or severe the spinal cord in order to become paralyzed. Aim of the study is to broaden the knowledge of BIID amongst medical professionals, by describing all who deal with BIID.

Whoa now, there's an argument happening here? You told us you were just idly mentioning something. What exactly are you trying to prove?

There was a time as a kid I thought it would be cool to be a girl. I'm glad my parents didn't take me seriously, because now that I've grown up I'm definitely glad to be a man.

That is your actual grotesque personality trait. Forget the transgender issue....its hardly even an issue. The whole "Gonna have kids by my mid 30's" trash that is infecting our society is the REAL threat to the American family. Fuck Gay marriage. Shit doesnt even exist
what's wrong with having kids in your 30s?

I agree 100%.
I've been paying taxes for over 10 years and never once used any kind of gov. assistance, nor do I plan or want to. (I guess I'd like to get school grants down the line, but school should be payed for by our tax dollars instead of getting our grubby fingers in every corner of the planet anyways IMO) the worst part is, chances are pretty good i'll never see a penny of all the social security dollars they steal from me every week.
there's lot of bullshit in the world especially in our country it seems.

You'll be paying regardless. If your taxes don't help the disadvantaged youth, then more of them will end up in jail using your tax money for a big part of their lives.

Did you know that snotty rich kids also go to jail? This is the worst justification for the welfare state ever. Disadvantaged? Maybe if we weren't paying slunks to have mugwumps there wouldn't be so many mugwumps in the first place.

wow, a whole ten years. props old timer.
you may haven't had to use the social safety net, but i would wager that you've used roads and attended public school. you know, the two main things the gub'ment uses your tax dollars for.

The percent of tax dollars spent on those things is miniscule. Soc sec and MC/MA are by far the biggest expenses.

You will become cleverer with age, and I know that is an 18yearish old illusion already at 28
The illusion of me living by myself and getting all my easily earned money for myself instead of sharing with anybody
I mean why should I share anything? , it's MY money
Nobody helps me
The neighbor probably gets help if he gets a bloodclot in his brain and needs an ambulance I would be happy if I didn't have to pay tax for that, then he could just take a taxi
/end of irony
