I use hardwoods, 12g sawdust + 6g chips + 1.6g oat bran + 3 cups gypsum.

I'd put less bran in. Shiitake doesn't like too much nitrogen, leads to mutants. I stick to 10 %

I have been fruiting for a week now and never developed nice mushrooms. They look good at first but develop black cap before getting too large. Am I waiting too long to harvest?

Fill a bowl with beer, they will get drunk and drown.

With the high temps in Europe I'm having pinning problems too because  there's not enough difference between incubation temp and fruiting temp.

 same problem in california. Even phoenix oysters have a hard time here in hell.

Are you dunking just once during stripping or more frequently?

Just once, after that block goes into compost to feed red fruit on the farm. Here's a pic of my flush, it's got some much since I've been dunking but yields are pretty low

Weird enough my oysters just woke up in the heat.

2nd fruit pics [Re: BristolMush]
    #22036685 - 08/03/15 08:51 AM (8 years, 5 months ago)

Here are some pics of the 2nd fruit after a coldshock. I am seeing some trich in spots on a couple of blocks. I am concerned about how the caps look. I am not sure when to harvest, or if these caps look ok. I welcome all advice and feedback. My FC has been staying about 71f but at 90% humidity. I FAE a couple times and hour. I only have 12 blocks in 200 sq' so I do not think I need to be too worried about co2 buildup yet? I appreciate any advice given!
