Superior people...
    #2190510 - 12/19/03 03:08 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

Below average people discuss people.
Average people discuss events.
Superior people discuss ideas.

Does that make people in the S and P superior?

I don't even think we need to talk about superior people. that's just a judgement. sure there are dumbasses, but then again, can't we all have the ability to do so??

--------------------
Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.---senior doobie

Below average what? Superior to what?

It's a hierchy designed to rate people based on the content of their conversations. It's not to say one person is better than another, it's more of an encouragement to people to keep discussing ideas.

I agree with SpecialEd.

I once worked with an idiot savant type, who wasn't quite all there. He was the guy in the company that everyone loved, but gave a lot of shit. It was in good taste and people used to tease him about being gay. One day he was venting to me

"That Jim says that I'm a funny bunny? He says he seen me at the gay pride march? I think I seen him with a sign that said

A horses ass
and a mules titty
we're the cocksuckers
from kansas city"

Clearly, he was a superior person.

I'm a pretty smart person in some ways, but in a lot of ways, I'm an idiot. Keeps me humble.

For instance, I can't keep track of my car keys. Just lost my second set this year. Lock 'em in my car, mostly.

I admire people who can keep track of their car keys.

I see what SpecialEd is talking about. I don't necessarily think he is trying to "slam" anyone. I think what he is saying holds true, to an extent.

My turn. Slam me.

I submit that there is low intelligence correlation with people who consume people magazine and E! tv. I also submit that there is high intelligence correlation to people who talk about ideas.

Could you give me some parameters to answer that question. I'm not sure what you are after and I do not want to present a non seqweeter.

since when is sitting around discussing pre-thought ideas intelligent? I think being a successful crack dealer (and not getting caught) in brooklyn takes a lot more intelligence then playing ping-pong with a bunch of philosophical statements.

That's a good point. And maybe the crack dealer sits around with his buds when he's not selling on the street corner and talks about philosophical or spiritual ideas.

or maybe he talks about 50-cent's new videos and leaves the pointless philosophical musings to people with uneventful lives.

Dealing crack seems to indicate a lack of intelligence. Try again. Also, what the hell does "pre thought ideas" mean. Talk about a loaded term. There are original ideas as well as ideas that an individual comes to on their own, even if they have been arrived at before.

"Dealing crack seems to indicate a lack of intelligence. Try again."

why is that? what would you do if you had no money, no access to a decent job and no access to decent education? please tell me how becoming very economically successful in that horrid situation makes one stupid. Especially when thousands of government agents are trying their best to stop you, how does thriving in the worst possible condition make one stupid?

pre-thought ideas means that most philosophical discourse is rooted in ideas someone else has thought of. Like this discussion.

I may be seen as a fool from afar, but I will proceed.

Crack dealers ALWAYS come to a bad end. Dead or in jail. Period.

What would I do? It's hard to answer your questions if you are bent on instant gratification. One solution would be joining the service. Another solution is relocation. A third is taking whatever job you can and working your way through community college.
