Don't get me wrong. I think e-cigs are great for exactly that reason. I'm concidering getting a vape with a low mg content to take to festivals to use when i really just let loose. I'd rather vape than smoke cigs. I could probably do without it at this point but i know how i get sometimes... Plus some of those flavors are super nice especially when youre tripping.

Cigarettes piss me off. I dont know what it is that's in them but something subliminal is at work here because it sure isnt the high that keeps me going.
You know what's weird? Quitting cigarettes while quitting everything else...it's like poof..nothing. What do you do? Food sucks, sleep is nonexistant, time stops. Its like waiting on the fucking bus...
I think Ive almost OD'd on coffee 3-4 times since being told to cut the shit, everything, by the Dr. I'm still smoking.
Cigarettes piss me off.

The hardest part of quiting is deciding to quit.
You cant say "ill try" you just do it, wake up one day with no cigs left, and do things for the next few days that will keep you busy, and just dont fucking smoke. You will think about it once in a while, but if your determined, and youve DECIDED, then no, you wont go and pick up a cig and smoke it.
Its all about willpower, if you have the will to stop, you will. For me, enough was enough. My lungs were begining to feel the negative effects of tar build up (im 19 for fucks sake).
Getting past day 3 then its easy. I simply will not decide to fill my lungs with smoke. (besides dat green ha ah ha)
But I feel you man

Of all my attempts to stop smoking, none has lasted shorter than when I kept a pack of cigarettes around.

Unless they're some disgusting brand that you never smoke, you're probably gonna be opening that box within 24 hours Nah I can't really say, it's different for everyone. I've personally been able to have cigarettes around and still refrain from smoking for days.
Today's day 7 for me since my last one and like another 7 days before that. So far so good but I have a feeling I'm going to cave soon. Hopefully not though!

Yea pretty much. I only quit one other time and its when I was so sick I couldnt inhale any smoke at all, when I was done sick it was like 2 weeks so I didnt go back to smoking for a few months (back when I was like 16).
But since then Ive been smoking (solid 2 years).

You mind will play games with you, trying to come up with excuses for the first 2-3 days. Just tell it no, you can think about it, but just say no, just think about 'filling your lungs with smoke'. Its not as hard as people say, IMO/IME, the hardest part is deciding.
After 2-3 days its not difficult really, just strange cuz you lose a hobby that your used to.

Smoking can be enjoyable, pleasurable, entertaining, in the moment. But at the same time you are coating your lungs with smoke, building up tar, damaging your entire body. Is it really worth it? When your done with your cig....its gone...and youve just damaged yourself terribly..Was it really worth the quick fix?
Its nice, but its just not fucking worth it. I want to be able to breathe regularly, i want to be able to go and smoke a joint, but I cant, because I smoke cigs (did) and I dont have the capacity for that.
Fuck cigs!

if this is your first time of your own volition, beware. you may not succeed. some people are able to completely stop after one try, i and many others arent. wish you the best of luck though!

I used to be the same way
"Oh this is it last cig and I'm gonna quit tomorrow morning"
I've tried quitting like that so many times and it never ever worked in the long run
Not trying to break your spirit or anything but that's my experience with tobacco addiction I think a good quality vaporizer is a great alternative for people like me who tried to quit cold turkey so many times and found that it never worked

cold turkey worked for me who knows, maybe i'll get really drunk one night and fuck up like i did last time.
op is 6 days deep... i'm rootin' for ya man! the longer you go without nicotine, the more you retrain your brain. if you ever do go to smoke again like months and months down the line, you will remember why you quit and the taste of the cig wont even be any good to you (ive found ime)

The thing that I miss most about smoking cigs (and the thing that makes it the hardest for me to stay away from cigs) is the excuse to take a 5 minute time out from life. The ability to just sit on a bench somewhere for five minutes and just relax. Look at the trees, the grass, breathe... I miss the smoke breaks themselves way more than I miss the cigs.
I really miss those breaks from life.
